Sorry to hear about the broken foot, baglady. ERJs and Arkansas all in the same weekend. Yikes.

I did the ERJ thing this weekend, but to a decidedly more enjoyable destination. I'm thinking South Padre Island would make an excellent venue for an IAH(ish) Micro-DO. Sometime around October, when the water is still warm, the air temperature is in the 80s, and the kids are all back in school.

I would also add, that for those who haven't added BRO to their FlightMemory yet, it's the closest airport to South Padre Island, and there is also an abandoned Vickers Viscount just sitting at one corner of the airfield. I wonder if it's one of CO's old Viscounts...

Where in Arkansas were you? I get the pleasure of heading up there for work in a couple of months.

It's a small bone, nothing in comparison with flying an RJ ;) We were in Eureka Springs. We should have flown into Fayetteville. I didn't pay much attention because my aunt and uncle live in Hot Springs and assumed the wedding was near them - wrong! So we got the grand tour or AR. The nice check in agent at CO at least looked into switching our flights for us.
We listened to the radio show "Delilia" on the way there which my husband though was hilarious - the call ins were worth it alone and I read him my book Wine and War on the way back yesterday. I won't make the mistake of booking a trip not knowing exactly where I'm going again. Rookie mistake. I was pretty shocked I did it. :o

Ah, baglady, I feel your pain. That sounds like far too many of my work trips. That's why I always travel with my iPod and an iPod FM transmitter, in case the rental doesn't have XM or an auxiliary input jack on the radio. Did you at least get exit row seats on the ERJ?

And always remember, it could have been worse. I didn't see Colgan, Mesa, UA, WN, turboprop, or Enterprise Rent a Car mentioned in your review of the weekend.

LOL! No movie on that I recall...took about 2 min to maneuver back and forth through the queue tapes (what are those actually called??). No security or immigration line at 6pm.

Consider yourself fortunate.

If there is any one human being on the planet who has no business giving relationship advice, it's her. My mother advertised on a station that played her, and told the sales guy that if her ad was played during the show, she would cancel.

The AF lounge SUCKED! It was packed early with AF and KLM pax with screaming kids, and my BB had faster internet access than their wifi. Very limited liquor selection and cold snacks only...not impressed. :td:

The AF lounge had the worst wine and cheese that I ever have had at an AF lounge, which usually serve decent wine and may or may not have cheese. The preplated cheese course served in BF was the same cheese that was served in the AF lounge on a flight I had awhile back.

I still haven't added LIT to my flightmemory. Is the area around Hot Springs worth a visit, or would you recommend anywhere else in the Ozarks for a weekend break?

I would recommend flying Ozark airlines, if they were still in business.

No exit row - we had BL JR with us. Forgot the ipod FM transmitter despite having one and having 2 ipods with us. Did have Radiohead's CD on the way back. I've never had to fly Colgan but have had plenty of turboprops in my life :D

Drink service was a bit bizarre on the way there. She said she was only serving water, coke, sprite and did the trays; which took three times longer than cart service (per my unofficial timing that flight to the flight yesterday with cart service). Of course people asked for alcoholic drinks. One guy asked for a beer. He had a $10. She didn't have change. He said he'd take 2. She didn't have the same beer so instead of telling him what she had she brought the tray with a display of the beers she had. It all reminded me of being on a China Southern flight.

Arrive at hotel where I'd booked a suite - hotel is fully booked for the weekend. The hotel has a nice mold/mildew area because the jacuzzi in the room shoots water because the sign doesn't tell you the button is screwed up. GPS doesn't work in the area. Hillbillies abound.

And the apple store in dry town had 15 employees standing around with no customers. THAT would have been the place to get your iphone!

Wow, I won't forward this on to the folks at Arkansas Parks and Tourism...

What town was the hotel located in?

I recall seeing a snake farm there. That could be fun to go see. There are some of the old springs that you can visit. There are some B&Bs to stay at. My friends went and stayed at a B&B and had a great time. They loved it. I've only gone for family events so I look at it differently but I think the area is beautiful. My aunt and uncle live in Hot Springs Village which is a little more woodsy and not much to do except walk around, golf and water sports.

Yay! My BlackBerry works once more with our corporate e-mail… and I didn't have to downgrade to the old OS.

There are some beautiful places in the Ozarks. And I've enjoyed Hot Springs when I've been there in the past.

I haven't added LIT to the FlightMemory map yet either, but it's scheduled to happen in late September.
