I've always heard it pronounced "cap-uh-reen'-yuh" though that may not be accurate at all. There's also apparently a vodka version that isn't bad.

With an American accent, it is pronounced kai-pur-een-ah.

Thank you, gentlemen. Even though it's nowhere close to Brazilian, I shall set off for the Palm at first convenience. If Jack at the AC Palm can't make this thing taste good, then it's not worth drinking.

I hope they have Cachaça there. Without it you're going to be missing the main ingredient.

A caipiroska is the vodka version. I noticed on my recent visists to Brazil that the caipiroska seemed even more popular than the standard caipirinia among the locals.

Childbirth might disrupt it some, but necessity for such can easily result from mismanagement of usual Box denizen activities. ;)

I choose a slight mix of the two: kai-pur-een-yuh. I'm not sure if my pronunciation is perfect, but no one is correcting me!

I seem to recall reading something about the mods not wanting us discussing individuals who have been banned. Assuming I am not imaging things, I think we should probably move on to other topics so The Box does not fall into danger of being closed down.

All this talk is making me want to go back to 1) the Palm and 2) Brazil. Logistically, number 1 is much easier. Or, I could just buy a ticket on tonight's EWR-GRU or IAD-GRU (UA) - still have my valid visa ready to go.
Just remembered that I have an Answer due Monday. Brazil will have to wait for another weekend. |
Everyone concerned should have a PM re: golf. In other news, check out the shiny object.

Agreed sdm1130...I'll do my part:

Buy some. I regret not having brought a bottle back from my last trip. I paid $14 the other night for a caipirinha at a restaurant in DC. It was mediocre, but better than the last mediocre one I had. The only place in town that makes truly good ones is the Grill from Ipanema in Kalorama.
Off to the gate...I'm counting on you guys to give me engaging reading material for my bum day-on-the-couch-to-recover tomorrow! |
