It looks like MAF has more ExpressJet and less Chautauqua so I'd go with that. MAF-IAH is also blocked as a shorter flight - only by a few minutes but every second counts with an RJ.

ssullivan, half the time, I have to look up the airports codes of the airports you talk about visiting.

:D

When I took this job in 2005, they promised me I'd travel all the time. They never promised me I'd go anyplace exciting and glamorous though.

There are times I really wish Colgan flew IAH-ALE. That would make one of my work trips so much easier.

Be brave! Go ABI! It's far more unique, and will soon no longer be an airport that will get you CO EQMs.

BTW, MAF and AMA are both more than an hour's drive from Lubbock.

I will be arriving at 7:30am on Monday morning, so it will likely be a little busier than a Tuesday afternoon. Hopefully there won't be too much of a wait.

The Club will be busy with regular Monday morning business traffic, but I doubt any of them will be using the shower. The GRU, TLV, and West Coast redeye flights arrive earlier and, in any event, many of the connecting passengers from those flights will be using the C clubs. The last time I had to wait for a shower was in the C120 Club after a redeye from the West Coast that arrived around 7:00 am.

I am going to try to guess those codes without looking them up - ABI = Abilene; MAF = McCallan (sp?); AMA = Amarillo.

Saab 340s - now you're talking! Those are much more exciting compared to RJs.

ABI service will be gone by then :( (Nov. 1)

MAF is a longer drive and definitely boring. At least with AMA I can stop at Cadillac Ranch and part of old Route 66.

I shouldn't have said hour's drive from LBB as nothing with an airport is an hour's drive away ;)

Close.

MAF = Midland/Odessa

AMA also nets a few more EQMs and RDMs as well, since it's just over 500 miles from IAH. Not that those extra 44 EQMs are worth a whole lot.

I actually like SF3's.

Plus, we can play "Amarillo by Morning" while we're driving and the "deepness" of the moment will make the drive worth it...

Yeah, I need to get out more.

My fiancee and I discovered a bar (if you can call it that) in the Heights that is Czech/Polish and owned by a woman who lives across the street. The only serve beer but you can bring your own liquor.

They have all of the necessary items to make a free brisket sandwich out and waiting for you. It's a fun place. Maybe a Mini-DO location for those who want to really go to a hole-in-the-wall. ;)

I do too. I used to fly them a lot between GRR and DTW/MDW on NW and ATA's Chicago Express. In the winter, I enjoyed listening to the chunks of ice being thrown from the props into the side of the plane.

Sounds like a fun place!
