ssullivan, half the time, I have to look up the airports codes of the airports you talk about visiting.
When I took this job in 2005, they promised me I'd travel all the time. They never promised me I'd go anyplace exciting and glamorous though. There are times I really wish Colgan flew IAH-ALE. That would make one of my work trips so much easier. |

So I am thinking that instead of doing the early morning flight out of LBB for cheap (after a night time football game), I would go to one of the other cities within an hour's driving distance.
It's a tossup between MAF and AMA. Thoughts? BTW, MAF and AMA are both more than an hour's drive from Lubbock. |

I will be arriving at 7:30am on Monday morning, so it will likely be a little busier than a Tuesday afternoon. Hopefully there won't be too much of a wait.

Be brave! Go ABI! It's far more unique, and will soon no longer be an airport that will get you CO EQMs.

BTW, MAF and AMA are both more than an hour's drive from Lubbock. MAF is a longer drive and definitely boring. At least with AMA I can stop at Cadillac Ranch and part of old Route 66. I shouldn't have said hour's drive from LBB as nothing with an airport is an hour's drive away ;) |

I am going to try to guess those codes without looking them up - ABI = Abilene; MAF = McCallan (sp?); AMA = Amarillo.
MAF = Midland/Odessa |

Saab 340s - now you're talking! Those are much more exciting compared to RJs.

AMA also nets a few more EQMs and RDMs as well, since it's just over 500 miles from IAH. Not that those extra 44 EQMs are worth a whole lot.
Yeah, I need to get out more. My fiancee and I discovered a bar (if you can call it that) in the Heights that is Czech/Polish and owned by a woman who lives across the street. The only serve beer but you can bring your own liquor. They have all of the necessary items to make a free brisket sandwich out and waiting for you. It's a fun place. Maybe a Mini-DO location for those who want to really go to a hole-in-the-wall. ;) |
