There are many, many ways to open a beer bottle, including a car key, Bic lighter, cork screw (though not so helpful if you're stuck with shell nyc and a screw cap) and many, many other things. Worst case is a solid corner of a counter top or a door and a sharp blow to the top of the bottle and you'll be fine. I somehow ended up tending bar in Bimini on my vacation there and never found the bottle opener. I must've opened 100 bottles of beer for the customers that night, all by using the edge of the cooler as my leverage point. I only broke one bottle in that run. That was a rather strange night, to say the least. |
No bottle opener keychains in this crew? :D

Stupid Partner/RTW desk closes at 7 Central Time . And here I am, having finally tracked down flight availability for almost every segment of the honeymoon:
IAH-MEX(x)-TIJ-NRT-CTS(x)-NRT-ICN-BKK(x)-HKT(x)-BKK-SVO-AMS(x)-NCE(x)-CDG-MEX-IAH The bits in Red are tag-ons that I will procure with *A mileage (or just purchase outright), and the (x)'s are stopovers. I only wish I could check KE availability on NRT-ICN-BKK, as that's the only bit I can't check availability for. I even managed to work an SU IL-96-300 BKK-SVO into the Honeymoon :D :D :D |

The counter top technique works, but not always without damage to the counter top... |

I've done the counter top thing before as well, but Marriott's renovated Courtyards have bathroom counters with rounded edges. So there's not a sharp edge to catch the bottle cap on.

Some chain (Shearton or unrenovated Marriott, maybe?) used to have bottle openers attached to the bottom of the bathroom counters.
|
I know the older Marriotts used to have bottle openers mounted on the bathroom counters, but I haven't seen them in any renovated properties.
|
I thought I saw a bottle opener in the Embassy Suites at PHL in April. Mounted on the kitchenette side of the counter, to the left of the sink.

The plate in the door jamb works fine in a pinch. Just stand back because there can be quite a spray. I have an array of bottle openers in my trinkets and trash for work so if I have those with me, I open my work bag and pull out 1) bottle opener pen 2) bottle opener magnet 3) bottle opener dog tag 4) bottle opener key chain (so overdone but a staple). Alas, another beer will open a beer. With age comes wisdom.
