I saw that thing not too long ago, and it just looks odd there. It took my attention away from driving. That Xanadu complex is either going to flop or be such a huge hit that the traffic will be insane...

 That's going to be an indoor ski resort?! I always wondered what that hideous structure was. Who in the world thought that would be a good idea??

[stereotype]The Arab oil crowd.[/stereotype] The one in the mall by DXB set the precedent.

It's also an opportunity to add BRO/HRL/MFE to one's flightmemory. There's also a Vickers Viscount stored at the corner of the BRO airfield (Tail No. CF-TGZ) that appears to be registered to the Confederate Airforce. I'm wondering if we might be able to get an up-close tour of the airframe by contacting them.

Grew up in the area so holler if you have any questions...in Rio Hondo, there is another museum with many planes you might want to get close ups of.

If you make the DO happen and I am able to attend, then I might fly Air WilCo which means you could add any number of airports to your FlightMemory. In fact, I'm pretty sure you guested me in to the PC one time -- be more than happy to help you get another Houston area airport in your FlightMemory if you like.

But clearly East Rutherford, NJ != DXB. :)

ETA: NJD.com just released the "at-large" schedule pairs for the year: home/away games for ORD, DFW, LAX.

I just checked Stars shcedule, Devils are coming to DFW/DAL (AA center) on new year's eve... Unfortunately I'm out of country.

I also wanted to go to Wrigley Field fro DET-CHI on Jan 1st...(neither team is my favorite, though.)

The whole area is crazy with construction, they are adding highway ramps , and the New Giants Stadium , plus 2 other structures on the wester edge of Giants Stadium's parking lot, I have no Idea what they could possibly be.

Yeah, precisely. Of course. [rant]Why build indoor skiing in a place where the real thing is more than readily available? Mt. Vernon, Poconos, Vermont...nah, let's break out the winter clothes and poles and crap in June, honey! Here's a hint: DXB built indoor skiing because you lose water weight just by getting dressed in the morning. It's so f-ing hot that 100 degree weather is considered a cold snap. Why don't the Sherpas build an indoor beach? Wave pool, sand, all that good stuff. [/rant] My Lewis Black impersonation doesn't come across that well when not done in person.

ETA: I really like these false quote tags - some people overuse them, and I might rapidly become one of them.

Where did you get advance schedule info? So far the teams are only saying who their home opener is.

I ordered a glass of pinot last weekend at a place in DC, and the wine was so skunked that the bottle had to have been opened and not properly preserved/stored for at least four days. All of the restaurants in question have been high-end establishments. I guess that's the risk you take when you buy by the glass.

I've had similar issues - all high end establishments. Since it appears the Argon Gas works; why aren't all using it?

The one in Dubai is thoroughly unimpressive.

Wasn't the western edge of the Meadowlands property going to be dedicated Giants/Jets practice areas?

I just realized that except for the Rangers and Islanders, every NY Metro sports team will have gotten a new building in the last few years. Only the Devils' place is open and working, but the Giants/Jets, Mets and Yankees are in the midst of new construction. The Nets are getting their place in Brooklyn too.
