I hope we don't move again for at least two years.

At least the rest of my boxes and furniture, which was shipped from Houston a week ago, should be arriving sometime this week. Then I get to spend the following week unpacking it and getting rid of some furniture we don't need.

I've been dealing with move-related stuff since March. I'm more than ready for it to be over with.

I drove a 17' Uhaul truck all around Houston this weekend and we're finally moved-in at the new place. The boxes are still being unpacked but progress is progress.

The heat was killer yesterday and was probably worse today. Marriage license is on the agenda for tomorrow, then a flight to LAX. Anyone going to be at IAH tomorrow around 3pm?

You tell me... I've been looking for a decent excuse to head down there. I know that MLK day '09 was nixed as a Box mini-DO, but something earlier might work. :D

I'm considering a trip to PTY over Labor Day weekend...

I am in Midtown. Been in Midtown/Downtown since '98. Work downtown. I like it. I fill up the Mini every month or so.

Completely off topic for The Box...

Over the weekend, I found out that I will be standing in on a quadruple bypass surgery tomorrow morning! I've always been completely fascinated with medicine and wanted to be a heart or brain surgeon (I wouldn't have been able to handle all of the schooling) so this is something I've always wanted to experience.

Don't worry - I'll leave my Junior Mints at home. :D

How long does the marriage license last? 30 days? 90 days? We're planning to get our marriage license a week from this Thursday. Are you going downtown for yours?

I wish I could work in Downtown (I applied at CO, never heard back from them). I would bike/walk to work (or take public transit) if I worked in Downtown. I currently live 3/4 of a mile from work and fill up my car every other month.

"Who's going to turn down a junior mint? It's chocolate, it's pepermint, it's delicious. It's very refreshing."

You can go to any of the Harris County Clerks offices in the city to get the license: http://www.cclerk.hctx.net/

The license is good 72 hours after you get it and lasts for 30 days.

We are actually getting ours in Sugar Land because I am going to be in that area in the morning.

First of all very cool, but yes, when I started to read it, of course all I could think of was the Jr. Mints!

Interesting - we got married in California - got the license the morning of the wedding! FWIW, I've been here almost 6 years and there are still boxes I haven't unpacked! Started this spring and threw out a whole bunch - I figured if I lived without it for that long - I didn't really need it.

Met up with a few friends at IAH last night for some night spotting. Here are a few pics. Enjoy! :D

My girlfriend will happily take that approach when we finally move in. She has already done a number on my closets and bookshelves. I guess that, among other signs, is how you know you found your girl/guy...you don't mind when they come in and totally redo your space.

Ironically I think I like the tower shot best, even though it doesn't have a plane in it.

I recommend sharing them over in the Planespotting thread in the Travel Photography forum. Lots of appreciative folks over there for fun planespotting.
