Escorted my wife and daughter to IAH today. I bought a refundable ticket to help her get to the gate. I waited till the plane pulled out. Interesting scenario that occurred before the plane pushed off. One of the 2 GAs on this flight screwed up. It was flight #482 IAH-BOS. Apparently, one of the GAs miscounted the number of pax aboard. So, he ticketed one stand-by. Well, there was a "spinner" on board. I don't know exactly what happened, but a different person came off the flight and was standing at the gate w/ the GA. I overheard them talking and apparently he heard they were offering F on a later flight and a $650 voucher. The GAs protested and said a $500 voucher was offered. He started to argue with them, that they were incorrect. The GAs said it was $500 and the next flight was at 6:50. And, yes, there is a 6:50 flight #CO 582. Having talked to my wife who witnessed the event, she also heard a $650 voucher and said the GAs screwed him out of $150. The GAs said the max they were allowed to issue is $500. Is that true, sfogate? If so, it sounds like they promised something over the PA system on the plane that they could not deliver on.

The guy eventually relented and took the $500. I would have asked for a pass to the PC and a food voucher as well.

I found a new place to hold your ticket when flying. Tonight (12/23) on Nightline I saw a women that tucked her tickets between her headlights at ORD.

I am going to pick up a friend tomorrow from IAH (Term B). Due to timing of another thing that has to be done in the morning I will arrive at IAH about an hour early. What are the chances of getting a gate pass for another friend and I using my DL CRC membership (to get into the P-Club while we wait)?

Not very likely but you might find a nice Agent to help you. What time are you going to be at IAH?

I will be there from 10-11am possibly longer if the other friend wants to have a drink or two after landing. Do you think I should just buy 2 refundable tickets for my friend and I rather than try to fight with someone?

I agreed to come into work early today to cover sick call outages and I walked right into a delayed flight due to a mechanical problem. Only had two grinches to deal with. I know they both thought I was the Wicked Witch of the West, but they were very hard to deal with.

4.5 hours of overtime tonight. ^

A "spinner" is a person on board without a seat.
We have a base amount that the automative oversale manager program determines what we are offering for a DBC. If we can not get anyone to volunteer we need to get our supervisor's permission to offer more. The supervisor sets the max amount. There does come a time when it is cheaper for us to invol (we will pay you cash depending on the time of your new arrival flight, basically $200 per every hour).

We are not allowed to offer the PClub, ever. A food voucher is ok.

Completely reasonable. Just ask. That is one thing that they've mostly figured out.

G'morning Box! So glad the week is almost over. ^

Couldn't agree with you more! :) Morning, Box! G'night, sfogate. Good afternoon, szg.

I think I drove in through 4 weather systems getting to work. Snow, sleet, freezing rain, and then back to sleet. Looking forward to balmy 40 degree temps this afternoon to melt some of the snow piles we have.
