My condolences. :p

I feel the need to go to LBB to see how bad it is and to know how good I have it here in the ATL.

You have to time it right. August, 110 degrees or so, with only the faintest breeze wafting the stench of slaughterhouses over the city...the good life.

With CO's recent announcement of cuts. I applied for a job at CO. I have not heard anything from them, and doubt I will hear anything from them now. :( The job search in Houston continues.

We only get the stench there when the wind blows from the east.

Summers in LBB aren't that bad, well, unless it's a heavy tornado/thunderstorm season, then the dust flies and cars die.

How did the involvement of a bear not go out over a scanner?

It did on the EMS channel.

But, the paper probably has a priority setting on their scanner so PD and FD trump EMS. Due to the scope of the accident, all three channels were going, so the "Car v. Bear" proclamation by the first unit on scene would have gone unheard by the paper.

A ringing endorsement. :D

Got a new lens yesterday. Tokina 11-16/2.8, to replace the Canon 10-22/3.5-4.5 that I've already sold. Got money back in my pocket.

Very well made and the test shots seem very sharp even in the corners. No color cast. Focusing is fast but definitely loud, but with the ultra-wide with the huge DOF, it's not really an issue.

Main thing to adapt is that the zoom ring goes the the way compared to Canon lens.

Over here on the CO board, we used to hear all the complains about how few FC seats there are. But looking at UA, I now realize CO's not that bad in this regard, with 12 FCs on the 733/G and 16-20 FCs on the 738s.

I really should know better then to be away from the box for even a day. :(

But, yes, while UA does have fewer seats on it's 737s and Airbii, they still have a decent number of 757s, 767s and the occasional 777 doing domestic runs. If you're lucky, you can even get a 744 on a domestic run as I did last year on a SFO-DEN flight.

But, overall, at least on transcons out of EWR, it is easier to get upgraded on CO then UA these days.

I'll have to look for this one, i don't think i've patronized this establishment. My current favorite has been Rose Pizza downstairs on the MTA concourse towards the 7th Ave side.

Lbb

Guess I need to chime in here.

LBB is a gold mine (atleast last year) for Bump opportunities. I made over 3000 in bumps never got home a day late, merely hours late. I was bumping so much the people in LBB saw me at check in and said "let me check."

I didnt fly there to make the money just made the best of a situation. I will say that I too got to go to exotic places on those tickets like Alaska with a stopover in Seattle, Las Vegas, Oshkosh (while not exotic, was a vacation), sent a friend to New Orleans as a thank you, Went to Las Vegas a few times, home for Xmas and over to San Antonio. I forget how I used the rest. I have never however been able to score a bump on a voucher ticket or a free ticket.

The gest of the story is that if you live or have to fly to LBB do so on Sunday evening (IAH-LBB) and return on Thursday afternoon (LBB-IAH). Also be prepared to fly AA as that is the only other carrier that CO will buy tickets on.

I guess the other question is with the newest rounds of cuts, will we see less or more IDB and VDB cases?

It's flying today. The view out the window right now is quite brown.

In all my trips up here, I've very rarely smelled the stench.

But it's still Lubbock. It's hot, dry, windy, and there's nothing scenic about it.
