When I did it last night, it forced me to select CDG rather than erroring out.
Try a CDG - FDF reward search.... Though now it just let me do ORY, so who knows what gives... |

We're spending Three days in/around BTV, Four in YUL, and Two in YOW. Sheraton, W, and Westin, respectively.

I'm looking forward to it. Will be my first trip to any of those cities. Unfortunately, I won't be snagging any FM Lines to YUL or YOW, as we'll be driving up there from BTV.

I was looking at BTV as a birthday surprise for the O/H. Our birthdays are a day apart (there is a year age difference), so it would be a nice little getaway in the mountains.

Spotted an AUS-HNL DL Y-UP on FC for $2k a/i.

Or do a fresh install. If someone already has modern (or semi-modern) hardware, there is no need to replace it just to upgrade the OS.
In any case, Vista (IMO) is pretty terrible in terms of stability and usability. |

Coach was 2x3 seating, though.

Today's Topic: *A Route Shuffles
Given the transition of CO to *A, the virtual takeover of the EU by the Luftwaffe, the ATI filing and competition from the NW/DL/KL/AF group, what do you foresee changing next fall in regards to TATL traffic? The recent addition of IAH-FRA is obviously the first step of many, but what else?

I must admit that taking WN last weekend was a much better experience than I anticipated.

I think the Vista experience varies greatly by how you've configured it, and the hardware it's running on. I don't have it on my work computer, and haven't been willing to spend the money to get my home PC up to the level it should be at to run Vista, but it's on my parents' computer, which I set up for them, and have used a lot. It runs fine, and is very stable and usable. However, it does require doing some tweaking of the options within the OS, and running it on hardware that was really built for it, to work well.
Personally, I want my OS to run nicely right out of the box. I don't want to spend time tweaking away annoyances or maintaining OS related functions - I just want it to work. This is the #1 reason why I run OS X and various Linux distros exclusively. :) |

Indeed. I know a lot of folks really dislike WN, but I've never had an issue with them provided that I get a bulkhead seat. That said, I am consistently checking reward inventory from SAN and SNA to IAH to see if anything opens up so I can reschedule and not have to overnight in LAS.
I've also found that their new boarding process, and gate area enhancements, have made the experience of flying them much better. If you check in online, it's not hard to get a high enough boarding number that you've got an excellent chance of having a good seat. I've boarded in the high 30s and still landed aisle or window exit row seats, which have tons of leg room. It seems many WN fliers haven't discovered the extra space in the exit row, so there's often not a huge rush to those seats. Instead, they tend to want to sit up front, so the earliest boarders often fill the front 5-6 rows of the plane. |

That's still better than the 3x3 seating with no F that I believe the old UA Express BAE-146s based at DEN had.

I don't run Windows, but my mother has a 4 month old laptop (a mid-range machine - not the $399 special) that runs Vista with nothing but problems. It does not seem to be hardware related and I've tried reinstalling the OS to no avail.

Outside of the smell and the crumbs on board, I'd say my limited experience with them was also better than expected. But the last flight I had with had only 35 people on board a 73G
And in the mornings, those planes are spotless when they start their first flight. The crumb factor really is an issue as the day goes on, as on many flights, the only "cleaning" that happens while at the gate is a quick run through by the flight attendants with a garbage bag, picking up napkins, wrappers, newspapers, and the like, and rearranging the seat belts and magazines in the seat back pockets. They do clean planes mid-day when a flight number terminates, but at that point that plane may have already made four or five hops, with the same crew, and no real cleaning involving a vacuum cleaner. |
