I guess since US decided to deactivate the power ports on its Airbus equipment a few weeks ago, I should charge up and bring along my external laptop battery for next week's trip.

I'll add that to the list, along with food, water, a pillow, blanket, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, toilet tissue, Kleenex… anything else I should bring along that US won't be providing? A chair to sit on during the flight, maybe? My own seat belt?

Parachute.

It couldn't hurt.

Just found this classic posted in the US forum earlier today. It's in reply to a CLT-based US elite member who is debating a switch to CO.

He even said he doesn't mind EWR in order to avoid being nickeled and dimed, filthy airplanes and apathetic attitudes.

I can tell you personally, the ERJ145 is a nice aircraft from the 12A, 12B or 12C seat. It really is. It's WAY better than a cramped, filthy US B733, B734, A319, A320 or A321....and of course, it's better than anything US can offer in terms of an RJ....because CO actually cleans their airplanes. And IAH is GORGEOUS! Especially in the E terminal....and finally, the CO PCs are friggin NICE.

I do feel for hub captives...but the deterioration of US in this past couple of years has helped move people from US to new airlines...even in hubs...and I've heard they are generally happy.

My best advice to you is to get hold of Scott O'Leary, tell him you want a status match and give CO a try....once you start flying CO, you won't go back to US as it exists today.

Thanks. I'll add that to the list.

I'm up to three carry-on bags now: my laptop bag, my bag with my clothes and toiletries, and now my US survival kit.

The temptation to board a US 767 is growing, but can I bring my own bottled-oxygen on-board for my Level-A Hazmat Suit?

Prepared to be charged $10 for every linear inch of your 2nd and 3rd carry-on bags. If you want to store them in the overhead, you'll also have to pay $5 for every cubic inch of space your bags occupy. Finally, all latching and unlatching fees for the overhead bin use will apply.

It's sad when they say that COEx ERJ's are sparkling clean in comparsion to anything US has to offer.

In fairness, some of the ExJet ERJ's are a bit weathered inside, but generally clear (or, at least, cleaner than any US aircraft).

I have not flown US in years since they were operating that LCC Metro Jet. Remember those old school aircraft? It sucked then, but the Cactus Airways merger made it every so much worse.

I generally find regional equipment on any airline to be less clean. Those planes get flown a lot harder and on a lot more turns than the typical 737 each day. But generally speaking the ExpressJet ERJs are still looking pretty good inside, even as the oldest of the fleet has turned 10 years old. I think the most worn ExpressJet ERJ was still cleaner and had a better looking interior than the best of the Chautauqua ERJs I've flown, and those Chautauqua ERJs flying for COEX all came from Chautauqua's US Express operation.
