Hartmann, if you don't have any conditions that would make it a bad idea, see an allergist and get thee prescribed some Midrin. It's a miracle worker on sinus headaches...mine are usually gone in ~20 minutes.

Same here. My customers' business is affected so I know it's going to end up hitting mine.

My company has taken the slash travel budgets but expect you to travel just as much approach. It's a very simple task considering the cost of travel has gone up so much.

I think I'm over my quarterly travel allocation by about 300%.

I have everything well documented and have been granted "exemptions" for everything, but it's getting a little tedious. I wonder how much money we're spending on talking about the idea of perhaps saving some money.

I just have to say that Starwood is impressing me with the aloft brand. This morning I checked out the breakfast bar for the first time. Sure, you have to pay for the stuff, but the quality of the goods is excellent, and much better than what you see at most places where breakfast is complimentary. I had a bacon cheddar savory muffin on my commute to the client that was simply incredible. Well worth the $2.50 they charged for it. And they didn't charge me for my two bottles of water or my cup of coffee either.

And at the price points they're charging for that brand, most of my clients won't throw a fit at me staying there, as it's competitive with places like Hampton, Courtyard, and Hilton Garden Inn.

My one big complaint — and this one is nit-picky, but very valid. They have a really cool looking desk lamp, but the shade on the lamp is too short of the enormous compact flourescent bulbs Starwood is buying for those lamps. As a result, the bulb hangs out below the shade about an inch. If you turn the desk lamp on, it provides great light, but also a blinding glare that's right at eye-level. And since the lamp isn't adjustable there's no way to angle it so you don't get blinded. So it's either work with lousy light at the desk, or have tons of light over the desk and be so blinded that you can't see anything. Someone didn't think this through, and I've seen this at two aloft locations now. Other than that, Starwood gets ^^^ for aloft.

I had a Y back from HKG six years ago; that was my last long haul in Y (I started drinking in the RCC and didn't stop until I was out). I'm sure I COULD do it again, but I wouldn't want to do it.

Any advice for me. I've got 16 hours in Y to face. I have never wanted an upgrade to clear so badly before.

I Purchased an EmPower adapter and I am bringing my notebook with dvd's and music ans such. I am bringing snacks, and I think I am going to booze it up in the PC before.

A-M-B-I-E-N !

Rip your DVDs to your hard drive - it will cut power consumption considerably.

Plenty of water during the flight.

Sit on a pillow.

Stretch a lot.

I completely agree. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at another aloft.

I noticed that as well. CLE has been left out of a few of the most recent weekend specials.

First, dress as comfortably as possible. Second, take socks or slippers with you so you don't have to deal with putting shoes on during the long flight. I always (even in BF) take my own pillow and blanket. I use the CO pillow for my lower back and I hate scratchy blankets. You can find good thin, soft blankets that really don't take up much room. Good snacks are always a plus. If you like to read, bring on your favorite magazines/books. Drink as much free stuff in the PClub prior to the flight. Along with all that water you need to drink to counteract the effects of alcohol, keep drinking. I am not going to recommend Ambien or similar because of that whole Ambien amnesia thing, but I do find Xanax works wonders with a few cocktails (yes, I know you aren't supposed to mix it but I'm being honest here!). That and your movies and you are pretty much set for a long @&& 16 hour flight.

Good idea with the pad, I am going to go get a chair cushion from wal-mart. :)

CO has operations in CLE?

Hartmann Dec 9, 2008 9:58 am

Thanks for all of the sinus suggestions, I'll try the hot towels and I may be forced to call an allergist if this continues.

Random question of the day, how much water can a 6' Christmas drink in a day? We filled up the bowl two days ago and there is still water inside.

Also, about those letters that appear in front of seat assignments occasionally, those are back-end codes used internally and has no affect on the seating. This is straight from CO's mouth.

Not too many exotic destinations within range of the Jungle Jets I suppose, though they do leg one out to NAS every now and then.
