Now American pre-clearance on the way back is a totally different story.

Odd. To date, I have had no trouble with the US Pre-Clearance folks. The last time I ran across one in YYC (Feb. '08), he just looked at my passport and said "welcome back."

Saskatoon does not have pre-clearance, though, so perhaps things have changed.

Remember to look for fresh Otter trails.

Interesting. US preclearance is just as  as the guys for Canadia are?

you don't want to get me started. Go into TS/S and search for a thread that starts with bohica.

At least you'll be near civilization. I'm on a south-eastern romp through MLU (via JAN), CLT, and RDU next week...

I'm so sorry you're visiting MLU. It is #18 overall of my most-visited airports. :td:

I never really had a problem with preclearance, once a guy started speaking spanish to me (since it says born in Argentina on my passport)
he caught me off guard , but he ended up being nice and telling me how he went to visit and how great it was.

I didn't have a problem with them. That was the easy part.

I'm going to DVR the re-airing of the Marine One special.

Thanks for the reminder. My recordings from Sunday were all pixelating and by the time the Marine One special came on, I couldn't take it anymore.

I got stuck sitting on the taxiway one day in CVG while everything came to a halt waiting for :rolleyes:uayle's plane to land.

US preclearance people were always very friendly. Arriving in Canada has always been hell for me. I tent to avoid the country because of the hassle required to get in.

Just a day. If Canadian Immigration doesn't spend the entire time interrogating me (), I may check that out.

I went to college 30 miles from Canada so we would go up there all the time for beer(Brador &/or Molsen) and Chinese All You Can Eat Buffet for $4.95C, which back then was $2.50US. Every once in a while, we'd get pulled out of line and interroged by the Canadian officials, but they were always joking with us.

The road-crossings are no better. The Significant Otter and I were thoroughly grilled en route to Montreal.

"What is the purpose of your visit to Canada?"
"I'm from Texas. We're here to take your snow."

I have seen it on two occasions, both at EWR. The first time it landed while I was traveling in '97 and completely hosed the schedules for the rest of the afternoon.

The second time was in '99 and I was driving in the presidential motorcade. That was a phenomenally amazing experience. I actually drove out on to the tarmac and more or less under the wing of the plane to let out the white house photographer, a couple other aides and some Secret Service agents. And I got to shake Clinton's hand. Surprisingly tall man.

Except for the end of the Air Force One show, which featured Obama committing burger-treason... Medium-well with Dijon mustard?!
