The rare 752 transcons are impossible to get mileage upgrades on (and there is still the AVOD in the back).

It's possible to weasel your way into the 752 Transcon F cabin when you already have a confirmed F seat routing through IAH/CLE that experiences an "unfortunate" schedule change. ;)

A 752 to FL is too short of a flight.

Not when your positive space upgrade clears on Christmas morning. :D I've started to make my fiancee earn her flying keep...my mother might provide the certs, but I make her go to the GA and get the upgrades. Ever since she got us into F for the CLE-MCO segment before we had boarded in PHL, I figure she's got a golden touch.

I'll see if I can find my unworn Borgata logo winter hat...if I do have it, it's a gift before the party flight. I can't remember if it was a victim of the most recent of my fiancee's Purges of Mike's Bedroom Crap.

On an somewhat related note, I did find a never-worn MSU School of Hospitality Business winter hat. That's yours no matter what, assuming you do Spartan green.

flickr makes me want to travel more. :(

Done deal, comrade. I'll continue the search...ever since I got engaged, my life has become de-cluttered, and now I can't find a f-ing thing. Let that be a lesson to those who want ALCO's STT diamond hookup...despite that I'll probably hit him up for it because she was over my shoulder when I was reading that post.

Anyone think 15,000mi. is decent for a one-way upgrade on an IAH-PTY flight that is showing C1 D1 Z1 A1? I'd rather not sit in the back for four hours, and I think I can handle the loss of 15K RDM. Essentially, that would just eat up most of this year's Extra Mile Bonus.

I just used 60K to upgrade me and my partner last night for our upcoming flights to CUN. It was great to be able to sent out the new itinerary and seat assignments this morning... that'll score me some points.

So... sometimes it is worth it. :)

I suppose the only time I'd use miles to upgrade myself on a (non-European) 752 would be to LIM (or similar distance) if the upgrade chances looked like a long shot.

LIM is longer than every UK/IE destination from EWR and within 50 miles of BRU/AMS.

Do the statusless ever find reward upgrade inventory? All this upgrade talk has reminded me that my fiancee would rather collect HH points than CO miles (can't say I blame her) and she wants to clear out her CO account at some point by snagging F one-way somewhere. I don't like the strategy of using the miles, but I don't think I'll be successful in changing her mind...

Does she double dip her HH account with OP?

To the Leisure markets (FL, Caribbean), it shouldn't be too difficult. Some Caribbean markets go out with empties in F.

All that is implied by hookup is that you'll get raped on the price of the rock slightly less forcefully. After checking the prices that mainland US retailers wanted, I thought to myself... "I'd be better off strapped over a barrel, getting tased from behind." After returning from STT, I thought: "Well, I'm broke, but at least I got to see the Caribbean."

Remember, a significant discount from insane is still ridiculous. They're freakin' rocks, for cryin' out loud!
