I have an open weekend at the end of March - might need to head to BCN...
both flights were available at the same price. In other news I went to Dunkin for coffee and they handed me a medium coffee and a tickets to see the NJ Nets tomorrow. I just gave it to a co worker . |

Just a day. If Canadian Immigration doesn't spend the entire time interrogating me (), I may check that out.

Calgary might be coming to me. The Devils-Flames game on March 10th was one of a handful that the MSG PR people offered to my mother for her free tickets and announcer's booth visit. My other preference was Devils-Wild on March 20. I'd like to see Jarome Iginla play in person, and with Minnesota the way it is, I can't count on Marian Gaborik being there after the trade deadline, which falls on the fiancee's birthday, March 4.

What is it with crossing the border up there? Either way is a royal pain - I got less of a hassle coming back from the Middle East and Southwest Asia than I usually do crossing the Ambassador Bridge.

Hmmm - a UX 738 from BCN-MAD would be a nice pickup.

For those of you who can't get enough aeroporn, the new show on National Geographic (honestly, I didn't even know we got this channel) on Air Force One (and also Marine One) is pretty cool. You get some good inside views of the plane as well as some good insight on the security on the ground.
Also cool was a description on the use of the two planes, how they travel together, etc. Worth having your TIVO pick it up next time it's on. |
I've seen both 28000 and 29000 do touch and go's in ACY. The crews like to go there since they have uncrowded airspace to fly the pattern over and over for landing proficiency. The long runway at ACY is longer than both at Andrews, too.
I'm going to DVR the re-airing of the Marine One special. <soapbox>: The DoD better not be stupid and pick the A380 to be the new AF1, and Boeing would be well advised to not be stupid on their end and play by the rules. Also, the new VH-71 that's going to replace the Presidential helicopters has a real fugly profile compared to the existing choppers. That is all. </soapbox> |

The bus from in front of the museum takes you to the rail station that goes downtown (20 to 30 minutes trip for $2.00 approx). This drops you near the mall downtown too. |

There was some discussion about them in here on Sunday night when they premiered, and also in the TravelBuzz forum. The Marine One episode was infinitely better, IMO, than the Air Force One episode. They actually only travel with the two 747s together on VERY rare occasions. They didn't explain that very well in the episode. And it was way more about the president than about the plane, I thought. The Marine One episode was way more about the crew, the helos, the training, etc.
