Sounds like a net loss. If you got the ticket at MR-esque pricing, why not get the miles and a cert on top?

You would get the VDB cert, get sent back to your origin, then just reschedule the trip for another day with your fare bucket available, so it would be a net positive w/r/t the voucher. You would then get the miles whenever you decided to fly on the original ticket.

IIRC, the hospital one was profiled on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. He was not at all impressed.

He is on right now on the Travel channel here in SFO .

Wow I actually found something useful in my AFWD email today - CLE-SNA for $237 with one night stay. NW is matching, for those of you redtailers.

Likewise. I saw a recent one where he enjoyed a bedouin BBQ in the Egyptian Desert. Made me wish I was there.

+1 - I haven't read the books yet, but they are on my wishlist.

I've only read A Cook's Tour, but it was a fun read.

Scratch that, it was a FareCompare alert. Still nice though!

So true. Small town airport TSA people usually have an overly inflated sense of self-importance in my experience. Much more so than those working larger airports. There used to be a couple of them at TYR who had the same attitude.

I also love how these small airports will usually have a local police officer or sheffiff's deputy who feels a need to be very involved in the security screening process, even though this person is not a TSA employee. BPT had one of those this morning as well, and he was asking to check boarding passes after the TSA boarding pass/ID check. I'm telling you, I felt SO much safer because a Jefferson County Sherriff Deputy checked my boarding pass. Doesn't that make you feel safer too?

Has it been said that the Sat. night portion of the Do is taking place in a hangar? Potentially valuable clue that I came into possession of.

I want to get home!

:td: :td: :td: to ATL ATC that has held us on the ground at IAH for at least 30 minutes... Despite ATL having pretty decent weather.

The extra EQMs and EQP already posted. That was quick! ^

Did you just call? No e-mail?

Guess I should have done that.

Neither. It would be a full VS award for JFK-LHR. Turns out ANA has better inventory and lower mileage requirements.

I'm just torn if it's worth burning the MR points for it.
