Is there something going on in MSY on the weekend of 1/23? Airfare is normal but hotels seems to be quite expensive with many properties having no availability.

The Eagles are playing that night. Dunno why that would cause such a stir, though.

"Quite expensive" was probably a little bit of an exaggeration on my part as hotels in New Orleans are in the $200-$250 range (outside of NO, they drop to $100-$125). That's about what I would have expected. The strange part is that most of the SPG properties (and all of the good ones) are unavailable. Many of the Marriott properties are unavailable as well. Odd...

World of Wheels Custom Car Show is also at the Superdome during that date. I made the mistake of staying at the W during the NBA All-Star Game this year. Oh. My. God. The place was a zoo. I didn't know they made canes out of fur.

I saw that, but didn't think it would cause the hotel issues. Am I going to regret going that weekend? :)

Neither of the Ws are available that weekend.

An Eagles concert has every right to cause a stir -- I saw them at Borgata over the summer and they are human jukeboxes. They sound pitch perfect from the recordings in the mid-70's. Their ticket prices are exorbitant but well worth it.

I bought three Christmas trees today and put those up. Mr. Obtuse has yet to notice.

Not even the smell? How can you miss the piney scent? That's the best part!

I called someone Captain Obvious in the WN forum the other day. I'll have to add Mr. Obtuse to my quiver. I busted out laughing upon reading that line.

I came home from work Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and was greeted with a big surprise. My kids bought a tree and decorated it. Of course the tree is on the coffee table and the bottom half is void of lights and ornaments, due to the pound puppy from hell.

I'm sure you will find an appropriate way to make Mr. Obtuse notice it. :D

Sadly, fake trees. There are now 10 in the house, so I guess going from 7 to 10 wasn't a big deal. I have way too many allergies for real trees. I was just saying this afternoon how much I miss real trees - especially the smell! I used to buy a fake tree scent spray but sadly, became allergic to that too. Sigh.

He did notice I hadn't made dinner though

CM, He's been called Capt. Obtuse as well. He will admit he is the most obtuse man on the planet (and I'd put him up for that).

Thanks sdm1130. That is the one I meant. Thought one of our many college based FTers would be spending the evening applying!

Any suggestions for Q2 seats? I sat in row 1 on my Island Air flight but do not know how their Q2s compare.

I didn't mind row 1 but the flight was so short it didn't really matter. As it is getting colder outside row 1 will be more exposed to the cold & wind which is worth considering.

I think I found a plan for DO flights and my Lima trip. When in doubt - combine! Sure, I'll miss out on about 1300 miles this way, but I get the right price point, I think.

I'm looking at PHL-IAH on the party flight, and then leaving the DO headed south to Lima rather than coming back up north, coming back north a couple days later. The price-point actually works, so I might pull the trigger.

You and CO Fan would make a crew of seven on the party flight - the more the merrier.
