Mike, this is going to make you jealous. We are going to shoot trap/skeet the morning before my wedding at The Houston Gun Club. My old man is a member and managed to get 20 spots on that Sat. morning.

Hello Box,

I am in Atlanta this week. I noticed there are some Atlanta inhabitants here and I was looking for some suggestions on visiting the quintessential southern small town with a nice historic down town area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please pm me with any suggestions, thanks

I am staying near the cobb galleria and cumberland mall, I think that is nw atl.

Seriously. Can we talk about EUA's or something?

In true box form, how about a discussion of the bar at the wedding? :D We're lucky in that we get to purchase all the beer and wine that will be served, and the caterer will simply serve it. So I get to go to Specs a couple of days before the wedding and get all of my favorites and have actual good beer, instead of Bud, Bud Light, and Miller. ^

We tried to convince my wife's parents to buy Lonestar and they refused, opting instead to get different Shiner varieties.

Watch out for the homeless people/panhandlers downtown. Atlanta has the most agressive panhandlers I've seen in quite a long time - they even put the ones in DC to shame.

Exactly , too much wedding talk may cause a small black hole in the penalty box and the vacuum effect would slowly destroy the thread from the inside :p

I think I mentioned this before, but one of my school friends had a cash bar at his wedding a few years ago. And, the alcohol available for purchase was mid-shelf, at best. He didn't even tell us that he intended to have a cash bar before the wedding; otherwise, I could have brought my own bottle or flask in. Downright insulting. :td:

I believe he told someone afterward that no one in his or his wife's immediately family really drinks. Um, ok, how about the other 100 guests you hosted that evening?

True midwestern cheapness at its finest.

:td:

I was in ATL for a convention a few weeks back, and while we were there, a homeless person walked up to one of my colleagues who was walking out of McDonalds with some sandwhiches and fries in a bag and said, 'GIVE ME SOME OF THOSE FRIES,' and just snatched the bag of fries out of his hand.

Yeah, that would suck. Everything is open bar at our wedding, courtesy of our ability to keep it under 70 people.

At least they asked for them before taking them

It would not have been as bad had he informed us in advance - still cheap and inappropriate, but better than paying $5 for an Absolut and tonic. :td:

Yeah, ATL pan-handlers are super aggressive. Made the mistake of staying at the Hyatt downtown on a trip last year and was literally chased into the lobby.

Not a lot spooks me when I travel (except CO Y), I'm a pretty big guy, but I was in a definite fight or flight moment and opted for the 100 yard dash. Thankfully crack lungs couldn't keep up.

You mean, at least they demanded them before taking them.

Uuuuggggg....while I normally like accounting I'm smack dab in the middle of a rather boring tax class. <sigh> Does anyone here really care about 291 additional recapture rules?
