True indeed but nothing beats the taste of a fresh pint o' G!

SO I had a pleasant conversation with two Chase people today.

One was a lady in the SA office that gave me her direct line and told me to call her back personally if I had any problems.

The other was the lady who activated my Chase Pres. Card. I was talking smack and she said "your a neighbor of mine, dont make me have to come down their and smack you"

All in all a good day in CC land. The bad day in CC land is when the bill comes!

If you have been to DUB already then by all means go. You know all you will see is the inside of the pub and that it a perfect night spent.

I have never been to DUB, but I've always wanted to drink a Guinness with singing, old Irish men at 9 in the morning. :)

No question on the food. With the higher hotel and car rental costs in MSY, going to DUB is actually a little cheaper. More miles = a good thing as well. MSY will remain high on the list of future destinations regardless.

Decisions Decisions...

SNN, 2002: A young Airman on his first trip into the combat zone has no idea what day it is or what time it is after landing for a tech stop from a certain nameless East Coast airport. However, the bar is open. The young Airman, being a lucky well traveled youth, believes in the idea of doing as the Romans do. If he didn't, the Turkish bath in IST a few years prior to this moment would have been somewhat out of place.

He steps to the bar, and orders a Guinness. What else would seem any more correct than to have a Guinness in Ireland. After all, since you've deplaned and cleared to an arrivals area, you're on soveriegn soil. The young munitions tech watches in awe of the famed "slow pour", and heartily thanks the bartender.

Glass in hand, he mutters "here goes nothing" and takes a respectably large gulp. The feeling of just having ingested the bottoms of a soiled fireplace grate combined with the charbroil leftovers from a day-old Burger King grill sweeps over the young soldier's mind. Utter disgust results, as soon as the intestinal fortitude to swallow this swill is summoned. Our fearless and fresh-faced soldier pays the tab and walks back to the gate to wait out the stop, because looking at airplanes and green countryside has got to be a better deal in life than drinking that crap.

Ireland holds a special place in my heart and experiencing the pub life is always fun. The Guinness Brewery is still the only bar that I have ever, well, rested my eyes but that was at the old facility before they were sold. Stumbled out and made my way to Windmill Lane Studios...

Am I crazy for thinking of going to Dublin the weekend after the BRU DO?

Concerns:
1. Dublin in January.
2. Only time for 1 night in Dublin.
3. Back to back weekend TATLs.

The other option is MSY but that is not nearly as cool.

I was a mess at last years DO because I came back from the UK the Sunday before, had to finalize a website as soon as I got home (I'm not a web guy either), attend a press conference Monday morning, meeting Tuesday night, Wednesday, take the 6:15AM train to D.C. , do laundry Thursday and pack for the DO and week back in the DC area. and then Friday fly to the DO.

Between that day and the poop in the tanks story that I read, I can safely say that I'll never be touching the G again. Ketel One is my friend.

CM, I was with you until that last paragraph... I love a nice pint of Guinness! ^

New Orleans rocked a lot more before Katrina. It's gone downhill a lot since then.

If you do go to DUB, I have a request: you must seek out the Pizza A$$ Cafe and buy yourself one of their t-shirts.

I don't doubt that, but it's still high on my list to go back. The fiancee wants to go too, so it's a rare case where our philosophies on travel align.

I prefer the Goose myself, or a nice whiskey, or a red blend, or a microbrew or Patron. Hell, it looks like I need to find flights to visit PSP for a month....

Why is it that every time I have a tight connection at IAH, there's an ATC delay that keeps my flight into IAH from taking off for a while, but not so long that I don't have a decent chance of making my connection — and then when I land I end up at the far end of B-84, and then it takes the ground crew 10+ minutes to unload the gate checked bags so we can get off the plane?

I really wish CO would come up with a solution to allow passengers off the plane at B-84 before the gate checked bags are unloaded. Let people wait inside and bring the bags inside, like they do on the jetway arrivals for the RJs. This business of sitting on the plane while 20 gate checked bags are unloaded and brought up is ridiculous, especially when there are passengers on board with tight connections, and we're arriving 15 minutes late due to ATC.

I did make my B-84Q to E-12 connection, but just barely. I could have been on the second flight 10 minutes earlier had I not had to sit on the ERJ forever waiting for the other passengers' gate checked bags.
