Maybe some earplugs or noise cancelling headphones.
Have a great time.

I second the noise canceling headphones. They were great in Y to NRT.

Everything else though, a bit of overkill. My biggest tag along for the trip was my PSP and felt it was too cramped to enjoy that, forget a notebook computer and DVD player.

Am I missing anything?

  • Chenille effeminate looking frilly blanket
  • A$$ pad
  • Slippers
  • EmPower adapter
  • Notebook computer
  • MP3 player
  • Personal video player
  • DVD’s
  • Camera
  • CO drink coupons
  • Melatonin (natural sleep aid)
  • Disinfecting wipes for the lav (just in case)

I'm officially sold on the DL shuttle. I showed up at the MAT at 215 and after some confusion surrounding the disappearance of Parking Lot 6 () I ended up checking in, clearing security, and walking up to the 230 gate at 225.

I asked the GA if I could somehow snag a seat and she said "of course!" We then proceeded to chit-chat (she is always working when I go through the MAT) for a couple minutes. I had the entire exit row to myself, stretched out, read Satan's Circus, had a Diet Coke, and 30 minutes later landed in DC. I did the tarmac walk since I was sitting in back and was actually first off the plane and into the terminal. Before I was even supposed to have left NY!

I grabbed Cosi for lunch and took the metro to my hotel and after some confusion with my reservation (they Pandy Reterson'ed my name) now I'm cruising through FT and .ppt slides. You can't beat it. If I had done the Amtrak route I'd be broken down somewhere near MetroPark.

I love the Shuttle, but I love it less lately.

They got rid of the Shuttle config MD88s, which means less pitch in the back. Not a huge deal, really, but it can be if you're stuck at the end of the runway at DCA waiting to depart. Which brings up the afternoon northbound reliability issues. I got burned sitting on the runway so many times that I gave up. I now fly southbound in the mornings and train northbound in the evenings.

Also, there is a rumor floating around that the Shuttle is converting fully to E75s from March. That will really suck.

My record on the Shuttle was shutting my laptop in my office at 40th & Lex. at 12:03pm without having yet purchasing a ticket and made it on the 12:30pm flight. That was pretty impressive.

The EmPower adapter only has one plug, I may need more :)

FYI

The Gold Upgrade Certs expire at the end of the year, you will have to wait to get new ones for upcoming year.

I just received my new bmi Gold kit and have 4 GUVs with 2009 expiry on them. As I don't anticipate using them I'm happy to share.

Looking at the schedule, I do not think it is even worthwhile to try to work the ORD-MAN flight in. In addition, it does not even operate on the way back. If I could get both the outbound and return on the BD flight, it might be worthwhile, but that is not the case.

I thought of that and was thinking I could just take UA back and burn a SWU to sit in C.

BD Still haven't gotten me my new card. Gold year began again at the end of September, Card was valid through 11/30.

Agreed. The Shuttle is much less reliable from the late afternoon onward. I still prefer the Acela if Manhattan is my final destination.

I just received my first Gold kit a few weeks ago - does that mean my certs are valid into 2009?

A|Club did get me my new Plat card yesterday, though. I'm considering switching my pre New Year's stay from the W Montreal to the Sofitel to see how they treat Plats.

That's not a bad idea, except I have no UA miles/SWU's.

Check the expiration date on the Certs. If they messed up, you can always email DiamondClub at flybmi dot com to get it fixed.

Sofitel has screwed up the Gold status comp they offered me and has me listed as a GM. Haven't had time yet to follow up with them.

They failed to credit-over my last Sofitel stay around the time of transition. I'm waiting for a manual credit (faxed off the info on Monday). On the plus side, I do have enough points for $180-worth of Accor Vouchers. With the $CAD where it is, that could substantially lessen my cost of staying at the Sofitel Montreal (which is already cheaper than the W).
