Different markets, I think. Way more leisure travel in the USA. I don't remember the exact numbers but I'm pretty sure that CO gets a significantly higher percentage of their bookings at co.com than 20%.

Wow - look at this EWR-IAH 762 flight scheduled for tomorrow morning.

http://pda.continental.com/PDA20/Fli...Status&gInfo=1

22/25 up front were upgrades (or Y-ups I suppose) and the seat map shows that the load in the back is extremely low.

They won't even need a full tank of gas...

No kidding. Although, who knows what the headwinds will be like with all of the storms en route.

I'm on the same flight next Wednesday, so I'm hoping to be one of 22 upgrades. :D

Wanna see an angry photo geek? Go check out FlightGlobal's cover image competition.

In the immortal words of Gunny Hartman, "You gotta be $hittin' me, Pyle."

There are 435 images entered in the "Airliners" category.
* How is it that images of C-17's and F-15's made it into the competition when the criteria is "Airliners"?
*Apparently someone out there thinks that an out-the-window shot is magazine cover quality.
*Shots of the Concorde that are EXIF-dated 2005-06 were submitted. If I had known about this contest, the last thing I would have done was submit a back catalog image. (IMO.)
* I looked at the first 110 images of 435, and I looked at all 220-something in the jet team category. About 10 out of those 600-some images made me say "Nice shot" out loud to no one.

So not only were the submissions poorly moderated, but people out there think that a 3-year-old shot will get the job done. And apparently, the people at FlightGlobal don't give a hoot whatsoever about the photographer's rights, because you can click on a thumbnail, get a larger image, and then click again to an unrestricted page. No disabling of right-click. Wow does that cheese me off...crappy quality of shots and even more craptastic treatment of those who submitted. Even if your shots are crap, they should be protected.

Ahhhh, post-exam Beer and Tacos = Bliss. ^

Lots of Box Action this evening. sbm12, rolov, CO 1E, and ssullivan have all personally witnessed my distressingly oversized carryon. On a 735, I had better board close to first (if in F), otherwise, there's no way that puppy will fit in the overhead.

My normal carry on bag is only slightly smaller. You've only seen my one night weekend mileage run bag — or at least I think I only had it that weekend last February.

White T-Top IROC, Hot Tranny Mess Photos, it's all coming together now... :D

Good luck!

I have had decent upgrade success on the 735 on that particular flight in the past. It leaves EWR sufficiently early that it's not full of passengers coming in from Europe. On the other hand, the early IAH-EWR flights can be really difficult to upgrade on, as they are full of travelers headed out of EWR for Europe. I find the later IAH-EWR flights a lot easier to get upgraded on.

Yeah, fortunately my work documentation is all electronic and in PDFs. If I had to haul around that 2,500 page user guide, plus a plethora of release guides, handouts, and training workbooks on paper, I'd die. And CO would charge me a fuel surcharge on every ticket.

ssullivan Dec 9, 2008 8:55 pm

I've put off my work crap I need to do tonight as much as possible, including drinking, eating dinner, taking a short nap, and going to the gym. I'm out of excuses now. I must get it done.

That is, unless one of you wants to come run test payrolls for me and then write it all up and e-mail it to my client? Please?

Nah. I'll drink in your stead, though. :)

Thanks. It leaves EWR at 7:30a (on a Wednesday morning) so it's early enough to avoid the European arrivals and late enough to miss most of the IAH-Central America connections. Most times, I wouldn't care much, but the 762 (and 752) are always very nice upgrades to get! We'll see how it goes... :)

Is it worth it for me to go back and find those posts in the "PWP" thread?
