What type of problems? I'm curious as my experience on reasonable hardware has been very different.

Occassional BSODs (the memory checks fine with memtest86) and random Windows services unexpectedly quitting. The OS is well maintained and has no viruses, spyware, unnecessary programs, etc.

I've read many mixed things about Vista - some people have zero issues and others have problems. I'm not at all surprised that you and ssullivan have been happy. Oh well... :)

I don't run Windows, but my mother has a 4 month old laptop (a mid-range machine - not the $399 special) that runs Vista with nothing but problems. It does not seem to be hardware related and I've tried reinstalling the OS to no avail.

That is a major annoyance, but I haven't experienced that on any of the Vista machines I've used.

And I agree, it should work nicely out of the box. I've had that experience with Windows XP. And I agree with what was said earlier — the Vista interface is nice, but not really a functional improvement, so that's part of the reason I've never really worried about upgrading my home PC to run it.

What a coincidence. I was looking at options for us to maybe go to YUL for New Year's last night myself.

But you'll be snagging a FM line to BTV, right?

Let me know if you will be up there at that time. We will actually be leaving YUL for YOW on 12/31, because the rates at the W just become silly if we stay for New Year's.

I'll be getting two new FM Lines: EWR-BTV, and BTV-CLE ^

That is a bit high. I snagged MIA-ORD-HNL on UA last year for $1600 all-in (30,000+ mi on BD).

I stand corrected. :)

But they didn't have F, correct?

XP is far better than Vista, IMO. There is no need to upgrade.

Rumor has it that MS will actually reduce the number of features in Windows 7 and work on improving security and stability. I'll believe it when I see it...

I've never had issues with the odor on a WN flight.

The odor was unmistakable. On two flights it was the wonderful smell of a diaper. I'm sure if they had a longer turn around time it would have aired out but the last time it was 108 degrees outside which didn't help. Another time it was the unmistakable smell of someones(') arm pit that seemed to have been infused in the carpet and all of the seats. They were all short flights and dirt cheap too so no biggy. Otherwise it wasn't bad and the new boarding system does go well.

Correct, no F.

Yuck. That does sound bad.

I have long thought that WN really is a split-personality airline. You've got the cheap routes to leisure destinations that are full of passengers who would do something like change a diaper at their seat on the tray table, and then stick the dirty diaper in the seat pocket. And then you've got the short-haul weekday frequent, almost shuttle-esque, service out of DAL and HOU to cities in Texas and surrounding states. Those flights appeal heavily to business travelers on short trips, and are a completely different experience — and are actually much more akin to the WN I remember flying as a kid, since that's the type of flying their business was founded on.

With WN winning those slots at LGA they seem like a good option to get to NYC on the cheap.

I'm considering declaring "shock and awe" on my system and having Wendy's chili for lunch.

Seeing as how the original plan was to go the Panthers-Preds game, I'd say that the 23rd is fair game. I'll have to see what the other half is up for. My only real obligations are the day we get there and Christmas Eve.

Sounds more likely to be "shock and oh god why did I do that" :D

My food intake on YXE-MSP-IAH consisted of:

Two Airport Hot-Dogs at YXE
Two Tacos of Dubious Vintage at the Maui Tacos in MSP

Somehow, I survived.

I'm already saying that.

Thank goodness I'm not traveling today. Or tomorrow. Next confinement in the metal tube comes Saturday a.m. Here's to hoping I've purged the horrible beast from my belly by then.

Glad I'm not on your flight today. :D
