I wonder if our travel agent will let me book ATL-IAH-DAL on CO and DAL-LBB on WN for future trips to Lubbock? At least until the CRJs are gone from the COEX fleet?

Is IAH-DAL all ERJ?

So they are getting rid of all of the CRJs? The schedules are full of them so I wish they would do this sooner (not boomer) than later

I'm surprised CO flies to both DFW and DAL (always thought it was just DFW). Is there really that much traffic between Houston and Dallas?

Off the top of my head, AA flies DFW-HOU and DFW-IAH, WN flies HOU-DAL and CO flies IAH-DFW and IAH-DAL. I know there are a lot of RJs in there, but that seems like a lot of seats!

Yes. Chautauqua has never been allowed on that route, thankfully.

Yes. The CRJs were on 24 month leases, and since CO and ExpressJet kissed and made up a few months ago, those leases are not being renewed. The CRJs are being replaced by CO's own ERJs coming back to them from the ExpressJet branded flying that was ended a few months ago. I've heard this from both employees in the know at CO and at Chautauqua. And it was alluded to in the press release regarding the new CO/ExpressJet contract some months back.

Yes, there really is, on weekdays. On weekends and holidays there's a huge cut in the number of frequencies on that route. CO actually runs more flights a day to DAL, but it's all ERJ. DFW sees a mix of mainline and COEX RJs. WN operates its HOU-DAL flights on average every 30 minutes on weekdays, and at some peek hours, they have flights that are only 15 minutes apart.

AA also flies DFW-IAH, mostly with MD-80s and 738s.

Dumb question: how bad is the lunch rush in Times Square? I'm assuming it's horrific and I should overpad my schedule if I have a 1pm interview.

WNs schedule between DAL and HOU is nuts! There are 30 flights today...

Yep.

In the gate areas at both HOU and DAL they maintain standby desks just for that route. They are staffed all day long and do nothing but service passengers on HOU-DAL tickets who are wanting to change flights. It's basically a shuttle-type operation for them, especially since WN doesn't charge a change fee, although they do require a pay-up to a higher, more flexible fare class on some discount fares.

Before DL de-hubbed DFW, they also flew DFW-IAH and DFW-HOU. At one time that was all mainline, although DFW-HOU, followed later by DFW-IAH, became DL Connection service with turboprops as DFW slowly downsized that hub starting around 1996-1997. In the end after the Brasilias were retired from DFW DL was flying CRJs on those routes, but DFW-IAH lasted pretty much right up until the end of the DL hub at DFW.

It can be nuts but it also depends on where you eat and what type of food. Non-waited service can be normal if you catch it at noon or sooner. By 12:10, forget it.

There may only be 2 types of beer at McSorley's, but they are both delicious and make for a phenomenal way to spend an afternoon. Light or dark stops mattering after a while. So does the count of how many you have had.

I think thats the place we were talking about going to tonight. Dont the have beers for under $5/each?

McSorley's is a strange place. Beers are cheaper by the pair and the scene is heavily favored towards heavy drinkers. If you will be here in the next couple hous let me know via PM.

monitor, you've been working too much. This was set up by belynch a few days ago. Its at dinosaur bbq on Monday. I will be there around 7pm but I think others may go earlier. PM belynch for more details.

monitor Nov 21, 2008 3:38 pm

Yes. I've been working in Florida while keeping warm and only checking in on FT a couple of times a day. Sometimes I go back three or four pages in the Box and only get the last hour or two's posts but I do not have time to check back all the way.

I need to go up to NY on Monday to pick up some more work and take care of those ever-present family Thanksgiving obligations. If my flight is on time and nothing untoward happens in the meanwhile, I will post that I am coming and show up. I think that Franny has a co-op board meeting that evening so I can just bring her back something after dinner.

Holy drunk batman.

Yeah, McSorley's is a good thing.

See you all in Monday at the meat meet.
