I had to call a friend today to tell them something I heard from a head hunter. My first question was "are you still using the old phone system?" I know the new system they were slowly installing records calls and this was a call I didn't want recorded.

This may sound strange but when I got laid off it felt great getting away from the hostile atmosphere. I'm still fearing the fresh start idea myself.

I finallly just got home , the highlight of the night was all 3 of us bombarding the LX lounge attendant with so many itineraries and gold cards that she had no choice but to let us in the lounge .

Her only words were

Awesome. I barely made it to catch my flight. It took me an hour to drive from the upper west side and I was really thinking I may miss my flight.

You are far from wrong. I was *Gold (US Plat) with a FC award ticket on a p.s. roundtrip LAX-JFK-LAX and was treated just like some second or third rate customer of no importance at all. I can only imagine the treatment that the no status pax in the rear of the plane were given.

This is an airline that will get no custom from me other than further awards to burn up the rest of my Dividend Miles before either US or UA or both go down the tubes and CO is left with the ability to cherry-pick the corpses.

While UA isn't perfect, it does have some quite a few good eggs. monitor I'm particularly surprised by your experience on ps. Having taken ps a number of times, i've always found the NYC based FAs to be the best from a customer service perspective.

Amazingly, some of UAs best people that I've encountered are in the NYC area (perhaps CO can learn something from them).

There are definitely more bad eggs at UA than CO, but the reality is that even CO has quite a bit of bad eggs.

And CM, as a 1K, i don't feel like a second-class citizen. The only airport that i've seen them overly cater to GS is at SFO and it's only with certain supervisors. Otherwise, be it on the phone or in person, I tend to get excellent service from most people.

I say we do something on Sunday morning/afternoon. I will probably fly in Friday morning and leave Sunday mid-afternoon.

Well, the flight to LAX was not too bad since it was for us the beginning of party week and we were feeling no pain and taking no note at all of what we were experiencing as just another 757 transcon trip, albeit with seats similar in comfort to those we would find on CO or DL if we chose the flights carefully.

However, the trip back was the total UA disaster as will be read about in their obituary a few years down the road. The LAX GAs were solicitous only of GS and employees and the aircraft itself was in a serious state of disrepair. I do not care to repeat the entire story but you can easily find it in the UA forum where I have made no more than three or four posts in the ten years I have been reading FT.

That airline stinks to high heaven and I will tolerate them only for our next FC award to Oz for next May. I do hope that May still finds them (and US) in business so we don't need to figure out another way to get down there.

Yep and they are able to fill the planes. I don't think I've ever been on a Houston-Dallas flight that wasn't near capacity.

AA used to fly a DAL-HOU shuttle but I'm not sure it's there anymore.

DAL is really convenient to downtown Dallas and DFW is great if you need to go to the H-E-B area or Ft. Worth. Driving from DAL to Hurst or Euless can take a hour or so due to construction on 183 and 30.

I could definitely be down for margaritas and omelets. ^
