The Mom should be on final to FLL as we speak - on NK. () Flying home tomorrow on B6 - just going for an overnight to take care of some business.

What is everyone's preferred method of reserving a vehicle? Expedia? Hotwire?

I was looking at Avis prices and they're outrageous.

Oh, yeah - Morning, Box!

I'm thinking it may take a long-haul holiday trip in Y to shock the Significant Otter into realizing that maintaining status is a good thing. She may not realize how key it is after years of riding in the pointy end, thinking miles grow on trees.

The problem is riding along with her in coach (unless you plan to send her on her own).

I always use the site of the actual company (usually National) because doing such applies any elite discounts you are entitled to when you make the reservation.

I use the rental companies websites. I have discount codes from a professsional association and sometimes they can be significant discounts.

Youre under 25 right? Try the MN University code for National. Its what I use on every trip, never questioned.

Some guy is talking really loundly on his phone in the CRC - I can hear him all the way in the back from where he is seated near the bar. He is almost yelling, no exaggeration. I hate that.

I'm ready to go over and tell the guy to keep his voice down just to piss him off.

sdm1130 Nov 21, 2008 8:48 am

I usually use the company sites (almost exclusively National). If National's prices are insane (as they are for my trip to DSM in December) I either book through another company site or I take my business to Priceline. For Priceline, I use Hotwire as a gauge and then low ball from there.

I think a complete switch to National may be in my future. I like the aisle method of doing things, but Avis' selection is sometimes better.

I just asked the loud guy to lower his voice. He was actually pretty nice about it.

Leaving for the Airport now. :D
