Quotes broke again, of course after I tagged about 4 posts.

Let's see.
Not a mistake fare. Something else. But CO has sent out their $137 each way to Europe fare e-mail

No card for me but I'm expecting an e-mail that says I can look at the e-version of it on-line

I've gotten paper iternaries when I've had reward trips on NW. When there were changes I'd get another paper copy in the mail.

My prospects of at least part time work seems to be opening up. It's work I'd rather do too.:)

Great photos Fozz. I lucked out this year and have escaped being in others photos this DO besides the back of my head.

Are you gonna take the Narita Express into the city ?
It is expensive but it is the easiest way into the city and you avoid the traffic.

When are you leaving
I can give you what maps I have.

I leave Friday morning, bum around BWI-IAH-SEA for a few days and then actually fly to NRT on Tuesday. From what I've seen the other, local train is $20 cheaper and only 20 minutes slower. And I end up pretty much on the same local subway lines anyways for the last mile or three. Not sure that the Narita Express is worthwhile. And the limo buses are even more expensive than the trains. Very confusing.

I'm sure that once I'm there I'll be fine. I can just bum around, eat and stare for 48 hours and come home. But I need to figure out which neighborhood to stay in. I'm torn between the Ueno/Asakusa area which seems to be newer and a bit north (~20 minutes on the subways to the imperial palace/Tsukiji area) or just staying near the palace. Or somewhere else. I really have no idea and not enough time to figure it all out.

I just received my Silver card in the mail. Anyone else get their card?

Yeah, last week. Silver received and expecting a Gold in a few weeks once the NRT trip posts. :p

I did just copy/paste for my "quote" before. And I could cheat it and include the special text to add the blue arrow link back to CM's original post but I'm too lazy for that.

Besides, I'm busy stressing over how the heck I'm going to find ANYTHING once I get to Tokyo. And where I should stay. Forget specific hotels; I'm lost trying to figure out the neighborhoods.

Finding one's way around Tokyo is not nearly as difficult as it might appear.

We stayed in Asakusa for our first stint in Tokyo. Its a fairly religious district and I felt that it was a bit sleepy, which was good for us at the time. With only 50 hours on the ground I'm not sure if you want sleepy. The Kamiya Bar (the oldest western style bar in Tokyo (though not really western)) closed at, IIRC, 10PM. Had my favorite dinner in Asakusa, though, but damned if I could tell you where its. It was simple Japanese pub fare.

If you end up staying in the area you'll see the Asahi Breweries HQ. Take a picture, but don't go there expecting to find some beer tasting room. There is none.:rolleyes::mad: There are some restaurants in the building but we walked over there for nothing.

I could go on and on.

Me too, I opened a topic about it some time back.
Judson at revenue management heard me talking to someone about it and interjected, he's trying to run it down as well. I gave him my copy.

Print this map

I was in Asakusa on New Years Day , there were so many people there going to the temple . It was pretty cool , I don't know what else is around there other than the temple and the street with the shops

Go to Harajuku and see the crazies

and Shibuya and Shinjuku at night to see the lights .

Great shots, Fozz. I'm too tall and too heavy to pull off the overhead bin bit - :(

My transcripts are all received and now it's just a matter of passing a test to teach in NJ. There aren't that many openings in what I want to teach, so I'm thinking that I should get another certification beyond Social Science as soon as possible.

I love how it takes Outlook ~30 minutes to deliver an email copy of a post that I just read.

I'm actually going to get a modest tax refund from our friendly federal government

I paid off a credit card with my refund - as did my fiancee. This specter of getting married is instilling odd behavior in me...I did the opposite of creating debt. Wow.

And oh my lord how the debt will roll in.

They are the hardest to get certification for but science and math will pretty much allow you to go anywhere. Another blossoming area is Technology Education (not to be confused with education technology, this is part of STEM) and of coures NJ DOE is trying to mess that up unlike the rest of the country.

As an econ / finance guy, that's the type of thing I like to read.

I'm at $609 back and near the threshold for itemizing deductions - after adding in my charitable contributions and service to 501(c)3's, I'll get a little more back.
