My exposure to economics has thus far been limited to Freakonomics and John Lott's gun law research. I tried to take Macro, and during a class, I had my foot on an adjacent desk. It was not a fully extended leg, but rather a footrest using the under-seat storage area. Rather than the prof asking me to remove said foot, he walked up and pulled the desk from under my leg. I walked out and dropped the course. What a schmuck.

My last weekend in March is the first of two conferences this year in ATL. Not that I get days off anyway but it's the principle.

Most economists are pretty cool people (excepting the Marxists and socialists at my graduate institution).

I will have to talk with those going over to Japan this coming month. My main trip is in July for 5 days. I have reservations at the airport hilton now. Thinking that would be the easiest point to move abotu the country on the bullet too. I need to work on that this week.

Nice! Sounds like a great trip. ^

After close to a month, I'm still looking for somewhere to go during the last weekend in March. I've considered most of the European deals (DUB, SNN, MXP and FCO are off limits right now), a bunch of the Carribean deals (although, hotels are quite pricey), Canada () and a few places in the US. I've run out of ideas (and I'm open to any suggestions)...

I never knew it could be so hard to decide on a long weekend destination...

Dont go to Canada. I had a bad one day experience going in and I read the MR one day trip thread today and it seems Canada doesnt like people to come for less than a week. Doesnt matter the nationality!

Marxists and socialists - are you sure that wasn't my undergrad History department? A history prof once told me to stop cracking French jokes, as it was "bad for the UN". I almost got myself thrown out of the History major that day.

This same guy said in a lecture that the French won a war. I asked if he was sure about that. :D

This is also the same guy who would call something "part and parcel" of something else ad nauseum. The guy sitting next to me in one of his classes repeatedly used "part and parcel" in a paper, and the paper came back with one of the P&P's circled in ink and the notation "...weird" scribbled above it. I guess the prof didn't get the joke.

Yeah, apparently Canada doesn't like me entering their country for any period of time.

The Koreans seem to have it in for you too. I love how you create international incidents in your spare time. :p

My girlfriend in undergrad was a biology and history double-major - never told me of socialists. Besides - the socialists were the stoners in political science and philosophy.

I'm glad to hear they treat everyone equally poorly.

My school had a prof get arrested for his connection to a domestic terrorism plot in the mid-70's. Something about his knowledge re: some bombings that were foiled. And also back in that day, we had a prof that reportedly taught in the nude. This is an institution that passed an ordinance limiting building heights to be no higher than the treetops, maaaaaan. Because, you know, like trees, they're awesome. It's also a college where the Young Republicans club does not have a faculty sponsor because no faculty member will put their name to it. There's an avowed Communist on the criminal justice faculty, and there was serious talk a few years ago that the school's business majors should be eliminated because business should not be taught at a liberal arts school. And yes, tax dollars underwrite this nonsense, as it is a New Jersey state school. Welcome one and all to the Soviet Socialist Republic of New Jersey.

ETA: Ooh, how bout that. One mile of posts.

Oh, I have no problems with domestic or international travel (well, except for Canada ). CM and I was just joking about the issues I have had with KE/CO regarding reward travel for my honeymoon.
