Sounds like your on the 77M which is of course a 4 class plane, however it appears there is no First being sold but the F seats are showing available for selection. Therefore it sounds like a FLUB flight and if you do a dummy booking for your route and date you might see BA aren't actually selling First?
See the thread below.
I'd strongly advise you move back into a business class seat of your choosing as it's more than likely you will be moved, thrown out etc if it is indeed a 4 class plane but no F being sold.

I fly a lot with Asian airlines in declassified cabins (especially premium eco sold as economy) so hadn't realised BA didn't go FCFS like they do.
ETA: Picked up my BP for the first flight and was given the BP for the BA flight... in 1K. Still well over 18 hours until flying that leg.

Flying LHR-JFK tomorrow on CS. For a couple, do you think it's worth taking the middle two seats or should we go one row behind each other but same letter seat? I am considering 16A/17A , 18E/18F or 19E/19F. Any thoughts from a a noise, privacy perspective?
Thanks

Thanks

We normally take the middle seats as it's (slightly) easier to converse but there really are no bad seats on this layout and assuming you don't want to pay for seats I would just leave it to chance and pick what you can for free at t-24.
Hope you both have a great flight wherever you sit.

If you want to talk to each to other, the middle rows are a bit easier but not completely straight forward since you need to lean forward to talk to each other.
There are really no bad seats and so would not pay more for a particular seat.
Be aware that 19 A and K are technically bassinet positions.

We are flying to New Orleans next year, which looks like the 77M there and back. We have reserved 7K and 8K as it appears it is not easy to talk if sitting in the middle seat pairs - is this correct? Was thinking 7K and 8K for the inbound as will be mostly sleeping but 7E and 7F are available for outbound if these are better for couples. We like to sit at the back of the cabin.
Also, it looks like rows 1 and 2 are not able to be reserved and these are for first class, but there is no first class on this route. What happens with these seats?

If you lean forward a little you can chat but the seats are OK for couples.
See this post and a good review and pictures of 8K as well as a view of 7EF.

It sounds like your on a FLUB flight, basically no First for sale. You can check if there is any First Class for sale by doing a dummy booking. If Club is oversold they will roll folks forward but usually higher status members. Even if it does open up don't select any F seats as you'll more than likely be moved back and not necessarily to your planned seats in Club.
More info in the FLUB thread.

Hi all, excited for my first BA flights in J across the pond and glad I got the 77M for both ways.
Selected 5A for IAD-LHR and plan to sleep as much as possible, will skip the meals. Then chose 8K for LHR-ORD at 1100. Did I choose wisely? Posted both seat maps below for reference. Thanks!

Flew BA195 on July 1st, sat in 6A so in the mini Club World cabin just after First. Perfect CW seat for me on this aircraft (except one insists on sitting in the very first row). Two windows, minimal noise, 12 seats in total so staff were able to be and were attentive. Would thoroughly recommend the seat to anyone contemplating it.

That's reassuring to know, I was on BA173 on 20/08 in 6K but it's been cancelled and I've ended up in 14A on the BA177 which wouldn't have been my first choice of seat (huge cabin, over the wing.)

If you like to watch the scenery out of the window, then choose the pattern you have mentioned as behind each other in A or K seats.
If you want to talk to each to other, the middle rows are a bit easier but not completely straight forward since you need to lean forward to talk to each other.

Thanks! We ended up flying in the middle being 8E and 8F into JFK and 19E and 19F on the way back. Not sure if it was just my impression but I feel like the food service from row 19 (last CW section) is a tad slower compared to when I was in the middle! I also noticed the service was slightly worse and much prefer the LHR to JFK one I had! Will definitely consider being in the first rows as opposed to last.
