Thanks that makes sense - out of interest, would BA start selling First now they're available, or just keep these back for Gold etc.? I *think* row 7 looks to be the rear of a mini cabin in any case, so should suit us fine!

I really don't know, they may or may not start selling them but who knows there may even be another aircraft configuration change.

There's many a story of at OLCI folks picking F seats (where it's J service on 'FLUB' flights) but then booted back to club and not always their previously allocated/chosen seats so that's why I'd advise staying put.

Good point! I've flown F a couple of times in the last month and as nice as it is, there is very little once on board between F and the new club suites (IMO), so no rush to rebook/upgrade, row 7 will do very nicely, thanks (subject to any further changes of course!).

I have a flight on 77L in J soon, so trying to understand which window seat is better, at least A or K (but row opinion will be welcomed too)

If your flying west then I'd say K as the sun will be on the other side should you wish to look out. I'd choose something in the front cabin, no bassinets there so say like 3 or 4K, so nearer the front but away from the galley. As I understand it the service starts in each corner so you'll be served at the start and more likely to have your choice, or choices, available.

Look at the Wiki and note that seats 7 and 14 have only 1 window as a blank is there.

It's worth keeping an eye on your flight as configurations sometimes happen.

Pete

Is the mini cabin on the 77H always the best shout in J? Seat map showing plenty of seats across the other 2 cabins but row 7 the only one left in that part.

I'm due to fly IAH-LHR on BA194 in a couple of weeks' time on the 77H. First time in Club Suites for me, travelling solo. No status with BA these days, so hoping to get an A or K seat at T-24 (not willing to pay for advance seat selection). If I can't get a seat in the forward mini cabin, is the next best option towards the back for hopefully getting first choice of meal? Or is it overall better being further forward for other reasons?

The front mini-cabin is great due to the size of it and on this configuration there is a window blank there at 7A and K.

There is 1 window to the side of you which you'd have to squint slightly backwards to see out.

Have a look at this post and there's a video showing the window blank/single window (3min 20 sec). If 5 or 6 aren't available I'd choose row 10 but as always YMMV. Service is the 4 corners for info.

As I understand it service is the '4 corners' so starting in each corner and working inwards.

It's not something we read about here that often folks not getting their choice as many folks will just want to sleep after take off and some will have eaten beforehand. Definitely OLCI as soon as it opens, take the best seat available though but don't print or download your BP until you really have to, then check on the seating very often if you don't initially get your first or better choice of seats.

By not downloading or printing your BP this allows you to change seats.

Thanks for the tips - I had forgotten about the inability to change seats once BP is issued on BA, so great point. I'm wondering how many people tend to go to sleep early on this flight, with it being a mid-afternoon departure. I much prefer the evening departures out of IAH for transatlantic flights - I find the timing better for naturally going to sleep. I'm rarely ready to sleep by 5-6 pm on these afternoon flights but planning to enjoy it anyway.

Very true re this earlier departure. Hope you enjoy your flight and post back how you get on if possible?

My strategy would be to get up very early on the day of departure, stay up and hopefully by 8pm IAH time you might be ready for a sleep.

That's what I used to do when going to the West coast USA as I liked the early flights back. It could also be my age on the wrong side of 50 and liking early nights as well as an afternoon nap

I think I'm on a 77M in CW - there's an 8K and no other row 8 seats, then galley and rows 9-17 - but rows 1 and 2 are also available for selection.

I've never flown Club Suite. Should I be in 1A?

ETA: realising there's still a galley ahead, I put myself in row 2. If this ends up being my first New First experience rather than Club Suite, I'll be pretty chuffed. If it's a bug on ba dot com I won't be.

Sounds like your on the 77M which is of course a 4 class plane, however it appears there is no First being sold but the F seats are showing available for selection. Therefore it sounds like a FLUB flight and if you do a dummy booking for your route and date you might see BA aren't actually selling First?

See the thread below.

I'd strongly advise you move back into a business class seat of your choosing as it's more than likely you will be moved, thrown out etc if it is indeed a 4 class plane but no F being sold.

ETA; A wise post from and advice from KARFA which sums it up nicely I think.
