It's not something we read about here that often folks not getting their choice as many folks will just want to sleep after take off and some will have eaten beforehand. Definitely OLCI as soon as it opens, take the best seat available though but don't print or download your BP until you really have to, then check on the seating very often if you don't initially get your first or better choice of seats.

By not downloading or printing your BP this allows you to change seats.
Thanks for the tips - I had forgotten about the inability to change seats once BP is issued on BA, so great point. I'm wondering how many people tend to go to sleep early on this flight, with it being a mid-afternoon departure. I much prefer the evening departures out of IAH for transatlantic flights - I find the timing better for naturally going to sleep. I'm rarely ready to sleep by 5-6 pm on these afternoon flights but planning to enjoy it anyway.
