This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition , 2017 edition, 2018 edition and 2019 edition.
The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues, status or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs, destinations, in-flight travel tech. or anything best discussed elsewhere on FT may be relocated to that forum as this thread isn't meant to import travel topics to this forum that are better discussed on other forums. FT is an amazingly diverse and large community so members are encouraged to seek out all of its resources.
While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

PSA - If you're a fan of Guy Ritchie films and you haven't seen The Gentlemen you're missing out.

Yikes! Gas prices locally jumped around 20 cents/liter in the 2-days to hover around 78-cents/liter. That's still far lower than it was not that long ago but when it bottomed out around 56-cents/liter it's a huge jump.

I just may drive by today or tomorrow as while I still have a half tank from my last fill-up 3rd week March saying 20+ cents/liter is worth a short drive for me as I'm not too far away.

It was mentioned here but it took a few days to catch up here, though that's only my inexact observation while driving at Mach 2 and it could've happened at the same time here.

On a separate note, oil prices jump on expectations of slowing inventory build.

I pulled into a Petro Canada today in Nanaimo just as it changed from 87 to 97. The attendant came out to tell me to go across the street to Chevron.

Pretty outrageous what's happening to gasoline prices given WTI is at about $22 and Brent about $29. Margins must be through the roof somewhere in refining and/or retail.

My gut says that it is in the refining. My neighbours run a busy gas station and show no obvious signs of wealth.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_...axes_in_Canada tells me that the minimum price of a l of gas, because tax, would be 20.7c in the NWT, to 37.06c in Vancouver, excluding the standard % sales tax.

We aren't a big city. We had a nice wine and tapas bar here in the 90's which had special nights where they brought in experts and had tasting menus. Closed after a few years with nothing replacing it. Then with DW and daughter diagnosed with dietary milk allergies, it became problematic anyway. Those sort of food adventures are limited to when I am travelling. I could find something in TO for sure once we go back after the lock down ends, but TO is family time. Girls stick to vegan because they are guaranteed safe and only a couple of other restaurants they know they can trust.
