This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition , 2017 edition, 2018 edition and 2019 edition.
The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues, status or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs, destinations, in-flight travel tech. or anything best discussed elsewhere on FT may be relocated to that forum as this thread isn't meant to import travel topics to this forum that are better discussed on other forums. FT is an amazingly diverse and large community so members are encouraged to seek out all of its resources.
While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

17-19? Oh good God, no! I was thinking fly in day of the Do and leave the following morning. Unless nomadic.relief can vouch for some interesting things to do in some of these places, I'm assuming they're not exactly going to be the types of places I would want to spend a lot of time.
Well now, I go to work and I miss all this thread activity today.
Let me start off with this - a 3 day Do in Quesnel?! Good god no.
I'm pretty sure AC doesn't fly there either... perhaps a CMA code share? Definitely no miles to be had there. (Covid actually has the airport temporarily closed.) That said, being there that weekend isn't out of the question as I need to be "near by" in Clearwater the following week ...
I am intrigued by the interest in a "Rural Do" though. YKA isn't super out there/rural, but would be reasonable for getting in+out in >24h for most. Definitely could come up with places to eat/drink there. More adventurous would be YYD but I won't be there until Feb 2022 (will try to remember to post a reminder because it's a beautiful place). A horrible idea would be a YXJ or YYE Do (no miles for the latter and, and really no one *wants* to go to FSJ). Oh, or YQQ - I would definitely support that. I'm be there annually late August/early September, could absolutely suggest nearby things to do/see while I'm at work, then join for dinner + beverages!!
If people are actually interested in going to any of those, I could be persuaded to coordinate.

It's only an 80 minute drive from YXS and the reward when one arrives in Quesnel is...well, you'll have to go see for yourself!

To be clear, I was most definitely not advocating for a 3 day DO in Quesnel. Merely a DO on one of those days. It was also suggested with an appropriate dose of irony.

I too am NOT advocating a Quesnel Do ... Kamloops, Smithers, or Comox would be my suggestions. Would love to do Prince Rupert or the Charlottes, but have not jobs there.

But really, an off the beaten track Do would be nice, and BC has lots of options for it. It depends how much people want to commit in time and money to travel to a remote place. Regional centres like YQQ will be easy for everyone to get to, but if people want to experience something more unique a place like Powell River or points further north on Vancouver Island would be better.

And yes, YXJ doesn't seem like the nicest place. And AC no longer seems to fly there from YYC, which I could have sworn they did for a while.
I was thinking about other middle-of-nowhere places for a Do and was easily distracted....
I just spotted what may be a first-time visitor to YYZ in the form of an A359
, currently passing Uelkal, Russia. Kind of exciting to see a rare bird with pretty plumage in between all the freighters.

(One of the challenges with anywhere that's not served by AC - well, Jazz, really, for the places we're talking about - is that there could easily be enough of us doing this that the logistics would become a problem. If there are 20 of us and we're talking about going somewhere that's only served by CMA's BEHs (19 seats) or by seaplane (even fewer), unless someone here wants to organize a charter, that's a problem... If Pacific Coastal flies Saab 340s to Powell River, that might be doable, although getting away from the AC spirit of it... Even if we're only 10-15, it may be difficult for us all to get on the flight we want at reasonable prices)

I should make it clear I knew when it shipped there would only be 16, and they only charged me for 16.
But I now have 4 1.75L and 17 0.75L. And it's going to be hard to get more.
