FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides
Last edit by: tcook052
This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition , 2017 edition, 2018 edition and 2019 edition.

The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues, status or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs, destinations, in-flight travel tech. or anything best discussed elsewhere on FT may be relocated to that forum as this thread isn't meant to import travel topics to this forum that are better discussed on other forums. FT is an amazingly diverse and large community so members are encouraged to seek out all of its resources.

While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

Nevermind - Canadian bacon is back bacon or peameal bacon, and it was "Invented" in Canada. Who knew
I do still dislike that they call it "Canadian bacon" though. That implies that back bacon is what we call "bacon" and/or that it's extremely common here. Neither of those is true.

Yeah, I remember being really confused when I first moved here and people mentioned Canadian bacon. I didn't know what it was.

I guess if we have geographically incorrect California rolls, and Philadelphia Creme Cheese, then we can have Canadian bacon (the ham, not the movie)!

Too bad I won't be able to watch them in September. I've always gone when they come through here.

If the world is normal again in November (it won't be, but let's dream) we could have gone to IAH for the 22nd and then flown over to TPA for the 23rd.

Ugh. I wish the world could be normal again.

It might be. If things do normalize, I'd be down for that trip. I haven't been to IAH, outside of the airport, in ages. Which is weird, because I used to be there all the time. I'm missing that delicious Mexican/Tex-Mex

Things won't normalize, but if they normal-ish and 14 day quarantine is not required, I'm in for Nov 22nd in IAH! That job doesn't care when I show up - to the extent that I write my own schedule by randomly putting myself on the calendar if I want hours. To be fair, they also random change store hours/days open and don't tell me ... so everyone's a bit in the dark.

Normalize is a relative term I hadn't figured you for a football fan though! Would you be cheering with me and WTME or for the other side?

Let's say I am not a highly vested fan, but it amuses me well enough. As for team ... well I have an in with a local for tailgating, but if I'm there to watch the game with you folk, I can turncoat. If it were vs Seahawks I might be a bit more partial.

I'll meet you in TPA (assuming there is a Lightning game, and assuming I keep my tickets).

jasdou and I know a great place to eat. It is a little pricey, but the buffet is to die for. 24left was drooling over the dessert bar, especially the ice cream made to order.....

Sanity says buffet is a no-go in Coivd-world, but hell, it is Florida. And made-to-order ice cream is a whole other (acceptable) dimension!

Reality is that it is unlikely the buffet would be open, and not sure how likely it is that there will even be games. I was planning on going to the last regular season Bucs game on Jan 3rd, but not even sure about travel then, especially with my whole family.

I'll just rig a wager in my favour and make Adam pay.

What makes you think I have that kind of money You're the one that seems to have a ton of resources available, what with all those kids you keep pumping out. I can't even afford to have one!

Don't be such a pessimist. I might actually buy flights, UA seems to have some decent TB pricing right now.
