Earning Points at the Resort - What Doesn't Qualify
Please note that any charges on third party services will be ineligible for points, e.g:
• Seaplane Transfer*
• Water Sports
• Dive Centre
• Spherique Boutique, Island Breeze or any other shops*
• Service Charge
• T-GST (Tourism Goods & Service Tax) and Green Tax (both government levied)

* The above mentioned outlets/services are third party and are not run by Conrad Maldives, therefore any purchases or expenses for items or services rendered will not be eligible for HHonors points.

Tax Information
• 10% Service Charge (levied by resort)
• 12% T-GST (Tourist Goods & Services Tax, levied by the Maldivian government, current as of Oct 1, 2014)
• Total tax is 23.2%, not 22% as one would think. Example; $100 + 10% = $110, then add 12% on to $110 for a total of $123.20
• A new Green Tax of US$6pp/pn (levied by the Maldivian government) has been introduced starting from 1 November 2015. Points/Redemption bookings are exempt from the tax for up to two guests per room
Note: The US$8pp/pn Bed Tax (previously levied by the Maldivian government) was abolished on Dec 1, 2014

Transfers to Resort
How: Conrad Maldives is a twin-island resort 90km Southwest of Malι International Airport and can be reached in three ways; by seaplane, by a domestic flight followed by a speedboat trip or by private yacht. Please note that all of these transfer options are charged and will be added to your room bill.

Time:
• Guests arriving in Malι on an international flight between 06.00 and 16.00 will transfer to Conrad Maldives by seaplane
• Because seaplanes can only fly during daylight hours, guests arriving in Malι on an international flight between 16.00 and 22.00 will transfer to Conrad Maldives by domestic flight and speedboat
Note: Speedboat + domestic flight option for departure only (i.e; if you arrived by seaplane or private boat and want to go back by speedboat and domestic flight) must be requested/arranged prior to arrival at the resort
• Guests arriving in Malι on an international flight after 22.00 will require overnight accommodation in Malι and a seaplane transfer will be arranged for them the following morning. The resort can book a hotel for you if requested and add the charges to your room bill at Conrad Maldives. (See below for recommended hotels in Malι and ones the resort can bok for you)
• Guests departing Malι on an international flight before 09.00 will be transferred from the resort to Malι the previous afternoon and will require overnight accommodation in Malι. This can be booked by the hotel for you and added to your room bill charges at Conrad Maldives
• See this post for detailed information on the seaplane schedule, when and how you will be informed of the departure time etc

Seaplane Cost: US$500 + T-GST roundtrip per head. Children aged between 2 and 11 receive a 50% discount
Seaplane Luggage: 25kg per person + 5kg of hand luggage. Limit of 32kg per piece of luggage. Excess baggage charged at US $5.00 + 12% T-GST per kg

Note: You are free to request specific villas, but the property will not be able to confirm them 100% due to operational intricacies. Can't hurt to ask and many have had success.

Unique Attractions & Activities
• Ithaa Undersea Restaurant: World's first and only all-glass undersea restaurant. Cocktail hour from 11:00 to 12:00. Lunch is from 12:00 - 2:00 (& second session from 2:30 - 4:30 if in high demand) and dinner from 6:30 - 9:30 (except Wednesdays and Sundays: 8:30 - 11:30)

Note: All prices in the Water Sports Brochure do not include the 10% service charge even though it states that the service charge is included
• The resort has a Jetpack. Some pics of the X-Jetpack in action: Pic 1 Pic 2
There is no age limit but for under 12s it's difficult to control as the control arms are long and the pack would be a little big for them. Price is USD225++ per person, per 45mins (includes flying lesson)
• The Water Sports Centre's new addition is a Jetblade! Price is the same as the Jetpack and apparently much easier to ride. Suitable for all ages. Click here for a pic of the Jetblade in action

• Mini Submarine: Unfortunately it has been out of action since 2013 and there is no forseeable resumption of service

>> Overnight stay in Malι - Resort Booking Service
• Conrad Rangali has contracts only with Jen Hotel (above) and Airport Hotel (presumably the Hulhule Island Hotel) in Male/Hulhule Island, where they can book rooms on behalf of guests.
Note: They used to be able to book other hotels like Hotel Octave (also listed above) but now it seems they have changed their policy and those are now the only two they are dealing with.

Flight out of Male was at 23:50.
We were told the evening before that our seaplane was scheduled to depart around 16:15, with "checkin" (final hotel checkout) at 15:45, arriving at MLE at 15:45 after the time change. They did not budge on that, saying it was the last flight out. There was another couple who also enjoyed the Conrad Lounge with us before departure, were also on the 23:50 flight, and their seaplane departure appeared to be at least 30 minutes after ours. On previous days we noted multiple flights leaving the island at 18:00 and beyond, so that is what I was hoping for. (became obvious that seaplane load optimization takes precedence over guest convenience) Lounge attendant took the 4 of us to the international MLE terminal at 21:30; definitely worth it to stay relaxed in the CL rather than spend 6 hours in the waiting area of the terminal; I'd say the same even if we had left 2 hours later.
I asked about taking the speedboat + inter-island flight in order to leave later, and they said that must be requested/arranged when doing initial island transfers. That may be good to add to the Wiki.

Yes. There's a snorkelling map in the Wiki.
Forgot to mention there are some on the LHS of Ithaa if you go there.

Agreed and I'll add that. Cheers.
Also forgot to mention, I think there was someone who posted a couple of months ago saying that they arranged transportation for him by speedboat and then local flight back to Male on a whim. Probably didn't make the staff too happy though.

Greetings to all,

First and foremost, as new member on a first post, my greetings to all and a word of gratitude to the wealth of information made available.

I proposed to my wife at the then named Hilton Rangali on December 30th 2006. We staid at one of the premier water villas and had a wonderful trip back then. Lucky me she said yes and we now have a lovely family! Really cannot imagine my life without my family.

As the sea plane took off to take my fiancιe and I back to male in the first days of 2007, while crying like a baby, I promised I would return with any children we had when they were old enough to snorkel with us and see how fabulous our planet really is.

Our only child turns 6 now and is ready for the long trip and Is sufficiently prepared as swimmer.

Time to make a dream come true and fulfill my promise.

We are booked to arrive in late March and we stay for almost a fortnight.

Reading the forum has been a delight.

Hope to contribute with something positive and useful for other members or just interested lurkers.

Cheers!

Darn! You leave just before I get there. I'd enjoy meeting anyone who still has the word "fortnight" in their vocabulary! I intend on proposing to my GF while at the Park Hyatt Maldives (immediately prior to our stay at Conrad Maldives). Congrats on finally returning! How'd you like the PW Villa? Was there anyone in the villa next to you, and if so was it noisy having someone share a wall?

There seems to be no difference between Gold and Diamond at this property. Unless Im mistaken.

dailygetaways.com its back on April it should be 100000/150000/250000 HHonors to buy 0.5 each

Totally OT, but 'fortnight' is in basically daily use by everyone else over here in Aus. Interesting that it isn't where you are from!

At that rate a 5-night stay works out at only $380/night at CR.

And could you please confirm the times of the two lunch sessions. I think they are 12-2PM and 2:30-4:30PM (with cocktails from 11:30-12:00). Is this correct?
Sorry if this has been already covered but if you do not eat in the Attol restaurant, how much on average would you need GBP to cover 10 nights breakfast, lunch and dinner? We are not big eaters and only a glass of wine with dinner and water for the day, would £150 a day cover two adults?

Very subjective to your situation and your food tastes.
For example, a burger or pizza or pasta or curry can be had at Rangali Bar or Quiet Zone (beach bar) for around £20 each. Add a glass of wine for £10-15 each. I thought Mandhoo had some nice-looking (and healthy) entrees for reasonable price as well, £25+. That means you are at £100 just for lunch + dinner, unless sharing an entree or two.
Bypassing the more-interesting restaurants would allow you stretch the budget more, and although that means not be taking full advantage of the resort, if it makes the difference of going or not at all then that is a different decision.
A few notes:
- prices above do not include tax or service charge, so add 25% (round numbers), meaning your £100 becomes £125 for lunch + dinner
- if you just ask for water with the meal you will likely receive a bottle of Perrier, Evian, etc., at US$10++ each
- will depend greatly on the rate that you book, and/or whether you have elite status with HHonors, which may provide breakfast (and other snacks) for free
- Atoll Market is one of two breakfast options (other than room service), so if you eliminate Atoll from consideration then you are left with Vilu each day; I do not know the charge for breakfast. Atoll breakfast buffet is fantastic, by the way = huge set of choices with good quality.
In our case we ate well for breakfast (free) at either Atoll or Vilu, skipped lunch most days, took advantage of afternoon snacks (free) and ate well for dinner = sometimes bar food (including sharing a pizza, twice), sometimes finer food.

Conrad lounge vs airport lounge

I will be going to the Conrad Maldives for my honeymoon in June for the first time and was reading some posts about the Conrad lounge for departure. My departing flight is scheduled for 22:30 and noticed there is also a contract lounge shared by multiple airlines and wanted to see how that lounge compared to the Conrad lounge. I am *G and also traveling in business so I will have access to the contract lounge.

Thanks, great reply. Our rate would be standard beach villa on HH points redemption. No HH gold status card benefits here, I'm now wondering if it's worth paying at the resort the half board package offer as we don't even have breakfast with our rate.

The only time you'll need to pay for breakfast (for the first 2 guests in the room) is if you are on a points booking and the HHonors account that the booking is under is either Blue or Silver. Having said that, breakfast is $37.50++ ($46.20) pp for adults and half that for kids. Those prices were current about a year ago so if you want to be sure of the latest prices you'll have to confirm with the resort.

As UAmainbird says, have a big breakfast and miss lunch. Pretty much everyone does that.
You can save on water by asking for house water. Order entree portions at Mandhoo. Not expensive, very healthy and the portions will be enough for each of you if you don't eat a lot.

Just noticed your reply and yes, if you take the $100++ F&B option it will save you quite a bit. Note that there is a 3-day minimum for the HB option and the days must be taken consecutively.

From memory there is a post about that topic way back in the thread somewhere, roughly between 2 1/2 yrs and 1 yr ago. If you search within that timeframe and use the right keywords you'll probably find it.

Hi, I recommend that you try to get Gold status before arrival, because free breakfast is really worth it. In Germany and the US you can get a Hilton Creditcard, which gives you instant Gold Status as long as you have the credit card.
Or try to do a status match if you have a higher status at another Hotel program.
Third option I will send you via PN.
