Perhaps this goes back to the old site, as well, but last night, booked two one-way tickets (US to Canada) and thought I'd save time by doing lap infant at the time of booking online, thinking everything could ticket at once and I could save myself a call. Priced out ok, including taxes for infant at what I expected.
Of course, neither ticketed on its own, and called in to get these done this morning. But not sure why they allow you to add infants if they won't be ticketed anyway. For me, I notice I never got sent e-ticket, but my guess is non-frequent flyers wouldn't know they had to call in and might have a surprise when trying to check in. |

I think I've seen the reverse problem happen several times over the past couple months.
I.e. For some but not all flights for a given search criteria it's showing a fare in Economy (Lowest) but it's showing Economy (Unrestricted) as unavailable. |
UA doesn't fly from SFO to IAH.

Cannot select higher fareclass?
I want to change flights on an tinerary I have (originaly Q class both legs0
In the 'change flghts' menu, I select my new dates, and (X) enter specific fare class M,E,U,H,Q,V,W yet, the only fareclass I get is S (and a promised refund!) However, seeing the same flight on a second 'new' search, I can select details and (having expert mode) I see: Available fare classes: J9 JN9 C9 D8 Z7 ZN7 P3 PN0 R0 RN0 IN0 I0 Y9 YN9 B9 M9 E9 U9 H9 HN9 Q9 V9 W9 S9 T9 L9 K9 G4 N0 XN9 X6 so why does it not offer me an M class for (presumably) more $$$? btw: SHouldn't that 'enter fare classes' ensure it searches them in the entered order? |
For the thrust of your post: This has been broken for a while, even before the "new" website (even before the merger, actually) I've found I frequently (almost always) have to call reservations to make a change and while preserving the original fare class. ("Y" or "B" for me)
It's so bad that I've given up on the "change" functionality for all intents and purposes and usually just refund the original itinerary and re-ticket it as a new reservation rather than dealing with all of the quirks of changing. (For the same reason I don't book round trips anymore -- just two one ways). For the BTW question: I think this could go either way; if it were working correctly I'd want it to give me flights with any of the selected fare classes sorted by the preference selected elsewhere/or using the new flight display grid (e.g. price, schedule) -- if I've entered it as an acceptable fare class I don't really care what fare class I'm booking as long as it's one of the ones I said I wanted. (Which, as above, is not how it's currently working) |
Yesterday morning I booked a flight for MsHalls120 and I, and secured a miles upgrade to BF at booking. It also involved the "we need 24 hours to confirm with our partner airline" warning. Eight hours later, it came through without intervention, and our flights were ticketed. I also used MsHalls120's account to book our tickets so I could use her miles but I used my credit card and directed the receipt to my e-mail, not hers.
All pretty ordinary stuff, but yes, I was worried I'd have to call at some point. Surprisingly, the system worked without human intervention. ^^ |
Looks like UA made several changes (they probably want to call it improvements) to the view reservation page.
As someone had already mentioned, seat assignments are not showing anymore which is annoying as I always used that as an indicator to make sure I still have my seat assignment. They also blanked out parts of the KTN and birth date. |

And I can't do what you suggest (cancel and rebook) because my refund attempts on the website always error out. For me, "change flights" is 100% a "call United" experience. |
Mine all seem ok, they are TATL if that makes a difference.

2 Attachment(s)
So I have a itinerary which I need to change (both flights)
It originally shows my flights as shown in the first attachment, with spelled-out months, and that is OK Sat., 2 Jul., 2016 and Sat., 9 Jul., 2016 When it comes to select the replacement flights, however it shows the dates in numerical format, and screws that up one date is shown as 7/2/2016 and the other 9/7/2016 so it seems to apply my local data-preference (which is not the US MM/DD/YYYY style but DD/MM/YYYY) for one date, and the other for the other date. I have to click the calendar and make sure it applies the correct dates, so that I did not accidentally booked flights in February or September ! |

I have 2 active, both TATL, but one with domestic too, and they all show my assigned seats correctly by going through Reservations->View/Change Seats. Is that what everyone else is doing or something else?
