Not directly related, but I've been getting this same error (I think) randomly on flight searches for the last two days. But not every time.
I'm guessing there may be some high traffic issues doe to all the weather problems, or just IT issues that popped up and aren't a priority this week. I'd suggest calling but I'm sure wait times are high right now. |
I was getting those messages too, weeks ago. I believe it is the transaction/search timing out. In my case I was doing searches for a route (YYZ/BKK) that has many flight options and it would time out at about 45 seconds.
Due to the storms and flight cancellation recently, yes there is probably some extra load on the system causing the 45 second time out to be reached. I happily informed United Support (many times) but no change. This is just a poorly designed, inefficient system that they don't seem to care about. |
The website is horribly dysfunctional tonight.
Trying to book SFO-KIX 1/14-1/18. .com returns the nonstop (UA35) outbound, but misprices the segments by approx. 50% ($371 for a W, $1459 for a P). And if I select the nonstop outbound, it simply will not offer the nonstop (UA34) return, despite wide open availability. This is just a disgrace. |

And I would have waited 39 seconds first while it spins Honestly, just give me 837/803 and 869/895 options and let me pick. It isn't that hard. And all the other pages are the old '80s CO font website with a new top badge. The entire thing is disgusting. Even Freshpoo ranks better. |
I've recently discovered that the website works far better on Chrome than on Internet Explorer. Don't know if it's just the version of IE we use at work or IE in general, but I've stopped using it across the board when accessing UA.com.

Is it a problem when UAL.COM partner flight seat assignments don't match actual seat?
On UAL.COM, a partner flight within a reservation is displaying seat assignments that are wrong and do not match the actual seat assignments confirmed from the partner website. For example, ANA reservation shows seats 10A and 10B but UAL.COM shows 11A and 12A.
I wonder about this since I will check in with UA (my first flight is UA) and worry that the system will issue the boarding pass for the partner based on what United system thinks the seat assignments are as opposed to what the partner has stored as the correct seat assignments. Any thoughts? Thanks :) |
This happens to me whenever I have award seats on partner flights. Once I have called the partner and chosen my seat(s), United dot com never shows the correct seats, but I always receive them. When I either check-in with the partner or use the transfer desk, the correct seats are on the boarding pass. Hope you have the same experience!

whatever the operating carriers shows are the actual seats.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but I booked two tickets yesterday on .dumb, and got two emails confirming that the reservation and that the had been ticketed. I printed out the emails from my outlook and there was 20 pages of paper per reservation. After the fare information on the printout there were random blue blocks on the left had side of each page and the breakdown of the airfare and all the other information was spread out over the next 18 pages. Anybody else see this kind of mess on a email printout?
I have just about had it with this new front end website. It is just about the worse website I have ever seen. If any one of my employees produced anything like this they would be looking for a new job.:mad: |
Just another bit of fuel for the failure that is the new site. Not a big deal, but reinforces that there are so many broken components.
When looking at a reservation is displays the miles/km summary for outbound as well as the flight time but only shows flight time for the return. *sigh* |
Keeping CO.com was the best thing UA did with the merger, was a highly functional website even if it wasn't "pretty".
Figures that Smisek's parting gift was to create a website that's far worse than the old CO.com and UA.bomb. Constant errors. Can't do half the things CO.com was able to do. Truly deserving of UA.bomb moniker. Complete {mess} IMHO. Bring back CO.com! |
I'd love to see a feature on the search that lets you filter down by aircraft/equipment. Regardless of the fact that it changes sometimes, having the ability to search for say "Dreamliner" flights would be nice.

Although the new website is horribly broken in IE and has some quirks in Chrome, I'm generally satisfied, except for the amount of effort it takes to see the equipment types now that all of the real flight details are buried and have to be expanded Though precious few of my routings are likely to offer the Dreamliner [although I booked MEL-LAX specifically for the opportunity], I prefer 73X to A319/20 if everything is equal and on the counter I absolutely refuse to fly a CR2 unless it's the only option to any airport within 100 miles of where I need to be...The only aircraft that I've found causes me physical pain) |
