Today I'm searching some more business fares from Asia back to the US and the results page continues to "highlight" the economy fares column. By highlight I'm referring to the "lifted" look to the column.
What's driving me crazy lately is on 100% US domestic itineraries the two "Business" columns show up -- AFAIK, UA doesn't offer domestic business -- and then there's a crapshoot. Most of the time "Unavailable" shows up for Business Lowest/Unrestricted. Sometimes fares show up for Business Lowest/Unrestricted (which are usually but not always different than the First Lowest/Unrestricted fares). Sometimes all that shows up are Business, and nothing at all (not even "Unavailable") in the First columns. But I really wish there was a way to hide columns... When I'm booking for work I'm never going to (company policy) book a non-refundable fare and I hate having to mentally filter them out... |
www.ual.com No Longer Working
I have always used www.ual.com as a short cut to get to the United.com website. In the last week or so, it no longer seems to work. It seems to resolve but the server doesn't respond. I have tried IE and Chrome with similar results.
Anyone else have the same issue? Looks like I may have to change an old habit and type a few more characters. DEN |

I noticed this too a few days ago... thought my internet was down!

Why exactly does this matter?

I just type "u" and pick it up from the browser history.

Yes I have been searching through Google and accessing from there
It's the easiest way I've found to get on the internet. Oh, wait, I missed a step. First I insert the AOL CD and install the software. |

I launch a browser from scratch. In the search box that opens at the start, I type Google to search for Google. Then I click the link that opens up the google search page. Then I type the name of the website I want (i.e. United, Chase, Amazon, etc.) and search for it.

From SFO, award availability is as dismal right now as I've ever seen. If it weren't for the unsaleable GF seats and UA's *A partners, there would be close to zero long-haul availability to anywhere in Europe or Asia. If I'm missing something, please let us know. That's kind of the point of FT. |
Most recent glitch I have seen is checking availability for a domestic ticket looking to buy first on one leg and an upgrade with an RPU on the return. On several occasions, it shows me all the options and so forth just fine, and when I select it, it quotes a price of about 550, which is also what ITA shows me. And as usual, a box shows up saying something like "buy this ticket in first for X dollars without using miles". But in each case, it has been quoting a really low RT price for first - varying from $380 to $440, which is less than the economy price. Even though the "details" tab says it is in first (and also curiously shows 0 PQMs). Needless to say, no matter how many times I go through this exercise, I cannot purchase first for 380. It always errors out after the credit card screen.
I have gone ahead and purchased the ticket for 550 because that was a good price anyway and ITA confirmed that, but it seems pretty clear to me there was a software glitch, and not just for one day. |
