status = zilch (member) . For some reason it does not show for direct flights, however if there is connecting flight it does show fare buckets, not sure how accurate that is though.

Available fare classes: F3-A3-JN3-C3-D3-Z0-ZN0-P0-PN0-R0-RN0-IN0-I0-Y9-YN9-B9-M9-E9-U7-H6-HN0-Q1-V1-W1-S0-T0-L0-K0-G0-N0-XN0-X0 (using UA search, i am not sure how accurate it is).

thanks in advance.
Unfortunately, the fare classes being shown at the moment are busted and completely incorrect.

A Friday on any flight out of a hub is a scary concept, FWIW.

ps clearing experience

I know there have been multiple reports of ps RPUs being tough to clear. I am looking at a mid-week flight (on a Wednesday) this coming week. It's one of the smaller (16-seat) BusinessFirst cabins, currently showing 7 seats open.

When people have had their RPUs clear on ps routes, is it generally in advance and if so, how far in advance? Or do you usually need to play a gate lottery game (recognizing there are no CPUs on this route so you're competing against other supported upgrade hopefuls)?

Any experiences/advice appreciated.

RPU on EWR-LAX, How much chance do I have ?

I have 2 RPU and travel certificate of 200 usd going to be expired this week, and decided to book a short trip from ARN-LAX, paying only 250 usd extra.

As said, how much chance do I have to upgrade to business first for the legs between EWR and LAX return ? I am Platinum member though. I'm fying on Wednesday 2pm, and return on Sunday night 11.29pm.

Odds for CPU for 1K on SFO-OGG nonstop

Traveling at end of October, Friday night returning Wednesday on a K fare.
757-300...what do you think?

I think that guessing about your odds on a flight that's 7 months out is an exercise in futility.

I'll play along for a second though. I think that the cabin will probably be half-filled up until a week before your departure. You'll probably start to get your hopes up until you start seeing the seats disappear (with $199 offers to pax w/no status) right up until they drop the price to $149 at departure and it goes out completely full w/no CPUs.

11.873% for even-numbered Wednesdays and 12.122% for odd-numbered.

On a more serious note, unless you have been given a paid UG offer to F which is less than the fare difference between A and K, even RM/IM haven't got a clue yet.

This is a route where there will be a lot of people with paid F (or to be more precise fare buckets which book into F) as well as people with onward connections to EWR which is a p.s. service attracting paid BF and *A (LH) where both international J & F book into domestic F, so it's always going to be a tough CPU for anybody.

Very very low. I'm sure this will get mergers with the master lax/sfo-ewr thread where you'll see that with the JFK to EWR switch, it's now next to impossible for upgrades. UA is selling all of the seats, and the one or two left will go to a GS, maybe a very lucky 1K.

It's not that crazy - with the number of seats available, especially on the 777. I just booked EWR-SFO, and the inbound had R3.

I've cleared most of the time on weekend SFO-OGG-SFO but recently failed. Some flights are sold out in F, while some go out with empty F seats. Really varies by specific flight.

There is no 2 pm flight EWR-LAX Wednesday 3/23. There's a 2:55 p.m., which is already booked 15/16. That's a zero percent chance. There is no 11:29 pm on Sunday 3/27. There's an 11:55 p.m. which is booked 9/16. That's about a 2% chance for a Plat on a waitlisted RPU.

The ps flights now generally go out with 8-15 uncleared upgrades dying on the waitlist.

The 772s on ps are different. UA appears to be applying a different algorithm for R on those flights.

For what it's worth, I just got three CPUs (two 1Ks, one no-status) on SFO-OGG this coming week, 96 hours in advance. K fare, 757-300. Seems like one of the easier CPUs in the system.

Except in leap years, when upgrades are slightly easier. Add 1.378% for the even-numbered, and 2.426% for odd.

Isn't that supposed to be 2.425%?
