Now that I think about it, I think INTL F (3 cabin) could also use the GS area. I'm still fuming about that. There was literally no one there with about 6-8 agents standing twiddling their thumbs and the dragon at the top of the line wouldn't let me in. I had BPs, just needed to drop bags for an INTL flight. The Premier bag drop area was closed.

GPUs disappear but RPUs correct / seats OK
In my case I had duplicate GPUs pulled for an October / November round trip to Sydney. The trip was upgraded from W to business.
Online my "Account Details" page under "Most Recent Account Activity" shows two identical entries reading as follows.
"03/03/2012 12:01 a.m. System-wide Upgrade Redemption (1)"
Note also that the term "System-wide Upgrade" was used instead of GPU terminology.
Seat assignments remained correct on all six segments of this itinerary.

CO (really the new UA) mngt has never given a RATS REAR-END about seat assignments.
I feel your pain. 3-4 times I had seats booked for vacations...and due to a simple a/c change...IE 738 -> 738 different tail #, seats would be jostled! It is [email protected] the old CO was H
RRIBLE about getting seats back.
Good luck...and I truly feel for you. The "you paid for transporation, not a seat" is BS in my book.

This was on a 8 hour TATL flight.

I was in international business (Caribbean premium class). The old Elite Access area (mid level middle) is 1K and Plat to the left, gold/silver/domestic F to the right. Separate, all the way down at the end is the GS/UA INTL F area. In other airports I think that would be enough of a differentiation to make a difference, but in Newark there are a LOT of plats and I suspect (nothing to back this up) less 1Ks. I realize this may still be a work in progress, but when the dust settles on systems issues I hope UA Insider can give us a heads up if this is permanent or temporary. I think the Premier Access bag drop would have solved my problem if that had been open, but of all days to close it yesterday was not a good choice.

Int'l C should really be combined then with 1K/Plat at a minimum - any signage for that?

An unticketed and cancelled flight has pop up, which was part of a larger reservation.
The segment that popped up was a BMI flight from TXL to LHR, which as part of an original iternary from TXL-LHR-IAD the LHR to IAD on UA. The original outbound was on CO to TXL.
Yesterday this showed as unticketed. - it still shows unticketed in the managed reservation summary.
but when you open the reservation, it shows as ticketed and confirmed.
This was cancelled a couple of months ago before it was ticketed.
I guess I should call and have it cancelled as it is for March 6th.

I'm still missing two (2) GPUs (SWUs). Quite a few others seem to have the same issue. Any info as to how we can get this corrected if the system doesn't do it automatically in the next few days?

Bravo
1. You obviously do not work in the merger integration field or you would have a better appreciation of how these system cutovers work. What appears as a major issue for you probably ranks below about 5,000 other items on the cutover plan. The vast majority of seat assignments were unaffected.
2. I am not sure why you are trying to turn this into a moral issue by claiming you played by the rules, etc. This is a system cutover issue and nothing more. A very small amount of people will be impacted in a negative way, 99% of the UA population flying within 10 days of the transition will have no idea that the migration even took place.
3. Absolutely no evidence exists at all that this was a 'poorly executed system conversion'. You would be shocked to see what happens during poorly planned and poorly executed integrations (employees don't get paid, companies are prevented from shipping products, facilities lock people out, etc). A small percentage of issues with seat assignments does not constitute a 'poorly executed system conversion' for a HUGE airline.

Bravo! Good sense reappears.

GPUs/RPUs pulled twice for future itineraries
I'm hoping UA Insider acknowledges this problem; if not I'll send a PM when things are quieter. I think for most of us this isn't urgent, so I'd avoid calling for now (I don't think you want to be on hold for hours anyway).

Not only has my E+ seat selection been wiped it now seems I can not select a E+ or E- seat... I will be somewhat unhappy if I end up in the middle up the back on a MEL-SYD-LAX (yuck!)

Thanks
I flew UA on 3/3 and had check-in/seat assignment problems like many others on this post, but I do want to say that I thought that the UA staff I encountered worked incredibly hard and did everything they could to make things right. Their frustration was showing, and it was not a day at work that I would wish on anyone.

The pattern seems to be that GPUs and RPUs were pulled twice for itineraries in the future. I assume this means you didn't have RPUs reserved/used for future itineraries? I'm hoping [b]UA Insider[\b] notices this soon. If not I'll try to send a PM when things are quieter.
It would appear that UA is paying reasonably close attention to this (unpaid) beta test forum. If their management has an ounce of sense they will appreciate the debug help that they receive from FlyerTalk.
