Also, with the CBP and CBSA wanting to expand the Nexus member base, that's great news!

Connecting transborder @ YYZ w/ checked bag - NEXUS office visit?
Hi all,
I'm flying YFC-YYZ-DCA today with a checked bag. I got a new passport in March and since I live in YQR I haven't been able to pop into a NEXUS office yet to update my information. I did update GOES and have been able to use Global Entry without issue. I have a 2-hour connection at YYZ today and was going to pop into the NEXUS office. However, I'm not sure how the bag logistics work. Can I leave the domestic terminal normally, head to the NEXUS office, then go to the US departure gates and preclearance and get my bag, or is the US preclearance bag carousel only accessible if you take the ramp to US connections from the domestic side? In other words, will I screw myself up by doing this? If I will, I could either short check my bag or just visit the NEXUS office at YOW in a couple of weeks and use Global Entry today to enter the US. (I clear at YQR on the trip home so having NEXUS up-to-date is not an issue.) Thanks in advance. Jim |
NEXUS is only useful going back to Canada.
To the US I find that there aren't as many people using the GE machines as the NEXUS ones. It doesn't help that the city I live in has to take connecting traffic from YYC/YYJ/YEG/YWG etc. |
Yes. But I still need to visit the NEXUS office.. Just trying to see if I can do it today while transiting with baggage at YYZ.

1) Just exit domestic like normal and go to the Nexus office. 2) When you are done, go to the US connection area (hang a left when you leave the Nexus office, go left down the first aisle and the entrance is at the end on your left) 3) Pick up bags and go through customs like you normally would |

I am confused about fees - Nexus is $50 or GE is $100? So, if I apply for either, does one pay for the additional fees, for the "second" application?

Just to follow up, my GE file was indeed updated with my new passport number even though I did not specifically give it to a US officer at YYZ when the change was actioned by the Canadian officer who handled my case. However, unlike the NEXUS update which took a day to appear on my file, the GE took over three weeks to appear in my GOES profile. (Discovered this at EWR today when I dropped into the GE office to have them make the change and they told me it was already in there, wasn't a week ago when I last checked my GOES profile.) However, to get your CBP sticker, you must see a US officer.

TN renewal question
Hope someone could help me out with this:
I've had a TN for the past 6 months (recently expired), and am also a GE and Nexus card holder. That TN has been associated with my Nexus card. Tomorrow, I'll be heading back to the US and will require another TN. Can I use the 'special services' desk at T1 YYZ pre-clearance (as I am a Nexus/GE holder) at which point they'll direct me to secondary? Or do I just go stand in the general customs line? Also, I'd imagine that I shouldn't be using my Nexus card to re-enter Canada when I return from my trip, as the new TN I'll be getting has not been associated with my Nexus card yet. If anyone has any experience with this, be much appreciated. Thanks! |
Skip the Iris Scan?
I have a question about the iris scan. I just want NEXUS for the free Global Entry, I have no plans to travel to Canada. If I go to one of the US interview sites and never get my iris scan done can I still get free Global Entry?

Here's a question. AC checkin to the US now includes the 'purpose of the visit' - Leisure, Business, Work, etc.
I travel on an E-1 Visa. Is that Business, or Work? |
