Flying YTZ-BOS tomorrow. Am I automatically able to use Global Entry? I have never enrolled or discussed it with anyone at a Nexus office.

I -think- that if you did fingerprints, then you're good for Global Entry

At YYZ, had 1/2 hour to spare between domestic connections, needed to update Nexus / Global Entry with my new passport info. Train between terminals, was waiting my turn at Nexus office, passing officer asked what I need (update passport info but short on time), she said wait moment no problem, in a moment she called me to her position, she punched a few numbers, took a copy for the US folks, we chatted and out I went. Total time in Nexus office – 10 minutes. Wow.

Hey guys,

I booked my interview appointment earlier for Dec 14th 2012 in edmonton international airport, but decided to check a few minutes ago too see if there was any new openings....

Anyways, there are 2 other choices for edmonton (and calgary for that matter), "Edmonton Enrollment Center - A" and "Edmonton Enrollment Center - B " (and similar wording for calgary)

I decided to check them and found an opening at "Edmonton Enrollment Center - B" for next week!!

There is no address associated with this location, so Im kinda worried that this is some type of glitch or something, as when I check for other times at that location, or the "A" location, there are no appointments available... AT ALL

I took the new appointment and it went through, but just curious, does anyone know what this is, or has anyone done an interview at either of those locations?? (I dont want to drive 290km for a glitch...)

thanks

Hmmm wierd. My sister just booked
Her appt last week and only saw one option for
Edmonton I think.

Maybe check the GOES website for enrollment center address?

Okay I checked GOeS only one center in Edmonton. Call the center and see what's up.

'PRE' info??

I was told that Nexus/GE is connected to the new 'PRE' security lines in the USA. However first attempt i was denied as it was a Xborder flight. I was told if it was a domestic US flight it would have been ok.

I was also told US citizens only?

Has anyone had success with the 'PRE' lines popping up everywhere?

Yes, NEXUS and GE holders who are US Citizens qualify for the PreCheck program. PreCheck is limited to certain airports and carriers. To use it, one has to store their "trusted traveler" number in their profile when flying with a participating airline. PreCheck is currently only available for domestic travel, not international.

And yet a Canadian colleague on a Canadian passport used it recently in Florida (TPA i believe) ... does TSA have discretion on citizenship ?

Log in to GOES and look for this message at the bottom of the screen:

Global Entry Benefit: As a NEXUS member, you can now use the Global Entry kiosks located at the top 20 major U.S. international airports to enter the U.S. To use the Global Entry kiosks, you must use a valid machine readable U.S. passport. Do not use your NEXUS card in the kiosk, but you may wish to carry it with you. There is no additional cost to use Global Entry, and you may use it for the duration of your NEXUS membership. Additional information about Global Entry can be found at http://www.GlobalEntry.gov/. If you do not wish to use Global Entry kiosks, please disregard this message.

If this message doesn't appear, you need to stop by a Global Entry office and they can make the appropriate changes in the computer.

Yeah I called the center and have left messages, cant seem to reach anyone.

Just found their email though, I'll send it from work (so it will seem more important hahaha) and see if I get a response!!

The TSA website doesn't seem to specifically address that question. Perhaps the TSA employee just recognized that NEXUS/GE members are allowed to use PreCheck, and let the computer make the decision. Curious if your colleague actually got the three beeps and got to use PreCheck screening, or if the computer bounced them back to the regular screening queue?

So i just asked him.....at TPA on Delta....no beeps.....there was a TSA agent in the priority line where you have your Docs checked and there was a 'side door' for PRE. He mentioned Nexus/GE and the agent simply directed him to a side screening area while other Pax continued in the Priority line.

I checked the Pre site and it States US citizens only so i'm guessing he (TSA) either messed up or they are allowing discretion.....i'm going to try and contact PRE program directly and find out

I haven't flown DL from TPA in about a year, so things may be different, but that doesn't sound like standard procedure. There should be a doc checker for PreCheck who scans the BP, and the computer will either beep once or three times. Three times, and you continue in the PreCheck line, or one beep, and you are bounced to into the regular queue. I wonder if your colleague was somehow rerouted from the priority line to the PreCheck line without going through the PreCheck doc checker.
