I got TN status yesterday when I entered the US. I'm also going to have a big address change (Canada -> US), employment change, etc.

What exactly do I need to do for all this? I imagine there's a limit to what I can change on GOES?

Did a 10 second examination of my carry on.

That was it.

Errrmmm CBP bored today?

In CBP terms, this is known as "Layered Security"

I have been reading up on this very long thread learning all about the Nexus program as my family and I are first time applicants to the program. After a few years of humming and hawing about whether or not we need it, we decided to just go for it. We mostly travel for personal family vacations but are often stuck in the extremely long lines at US customs at YYZ and look longlingly at the empty Nexus/GE machines.

We applied August 31
Got conditional approval Sept 17
Booked interviews immediately and the first available at YYZ is Jan 21.

We have 4 interviews to do as we are applying as a family. Scheduling 4 at around the same time was difficult. I think we will be stuck until Jan.....

Does anyone know if I can schedule me and my husband's interviews back to back, and then schedule the children's interviews for a different time, but then just bring them with us to the interview? Or do they need their own interview slot?

When I click on "Manage Interview" in GOES (since I have a NEXUS interview pending as well), at the very bottom there are special instructions that speak directly to your situation: "PLEASE NOTE: 1. You must schedule an appointment reservation for each applicant in your family or domicile. If there are not enough appointments available to accommodate the members of your family or domicile on a particular day, then please select another day. The appointments are not required to be in sequential time slots, and the members of your family or domicile will be taken care of at the earliest booked time slot."

In other words, you do need to make four appointments, but as long as all of your appointments are on the same day, you are fine--they will handle all of you at the first appointment slot. You do not have to worry about finding consecutive appointments.

When I got TN entering the US a few months ago, and when I was returning back to Canada, I stopped by the NEXUS office (at YYZ) and told them I have a new TN in my passport. The US officer took my passport and NEXUS card, and logged some info on his computer, and that was it! I did not make an appointment for this; I just signed in on the "no appointment" sheet.

However, note that I did not change address or employment. I think you'll need to have new address (& proof) for them to update your records.

Same situation for me last year - it was nearly impossible to find four consecutive slots. So, since I was passing through BUF, I found a few non-consecutive slots at Whirlpool Bridge, and called the office. They said that would be fine - come in for the first slot, and they could take everyone. When I showed up, the US CBP agent said that wasn't correct. I told them that I'd be fine coming back for all four appointments separately, then the agent softened up a bit. She asked for all my documents (drivers license, conditional approval letter, appointment letter, passport, etc, etc), and I think once she saw that I had everything in order, the interview took place without further complaints.

So, in summary, I think it will be fine. Just make sure you bring every piece of paper they tell you to bring.

Thank you EnhancedByCO and HookemHorns for clarifying this information for me. For now I have 4 consecutive appointments for a Sunday in January. I highly doubt I will be able to find 4 time slots in one day any sooner than that.

Does anyone on this thread have experience with their child (under 12) doing the iris scan? I have read how difficult it is for some adults to get it right the first time, I wonder how well children do with the scanner? My younger daughter wears glasses too....I can already see that if she has difficulty using the scanner, it will stress her!

I think your other strategy would have worked as well, but if you're OK waiting until January, this definitely is a safe approach.

Yes, both my kids were under 10 at the time. CBSA thought my daughter would be too young (5 or 6 at that time), but they were willing to give it a shot...surprise, she actually twigged on and got it quicker than the adults. The agents we dealt with were very low-key and didn't put any pressure on the kids at all, so everything went great.

Our kids were 6 and 1.7 (lol) when Wr went in.

6 yo had no issues.

Our 2yo they didn't bother with and gave her an exemption sticker.

Hi Shoppgirl,

My three kids (13, 11 and 8) were able to get a Nexus Interview all at the same time. I just phoned the nearest Nexus office and they scheduled the appointement over the phone. Really easy and no hassle. I would call them and explain.

Yes, you need proof of both address and employment. When I started my current job, I tried to update my employment, but didn't have business cards yet. They wouldn't let me do it.

I didn't have to prove my employment when I first applied.

And how is a business card proof of employment? :p

Hey guys,

I booked my interview appointment earlier for Dec 14th 2012 in edmonton international airport, but decided to check a few minutes ago too see if there was any new openings....

Anyways, there are 2 other choices for edmonton (and calgary for that matter), "Edmonton Enrollment Center - A" and "Edmonton Enrollment Center - B " (and similar wording for calgary)

I decided to check them and found an opening at "Edmonton Enrollment Center - B" for next week!!

There is no address associated with this location, so Im kinda worried that this is some type of glitch or something, as when I check for other times at that location, or the "A" location, there are no appointments available... AT ALL

I took the new appointment and it went through, but just curious, does anyone know what this is, or has anyone done an interview at either of those locations?? (I dont want to drive 290km for a glitch...)

thanks

I didn't have to when I first applied, either (though at the time, I was a student). Have you tried to change your employment information, which you need to do at the office. Perhaps, to be more percise, I can add, IME, I needed to present proof of employment. Don't know what a biz card does, really, but that's what they wanted to see. When I came back with it next time I was by the office, I came in and showed it to them, and they changed it. On the other hand, aside from a signed letter on company letterhead, what better is there to show proof of employment?
