Applied: September 5,2012 Conditionally Approved: September 21,2012 Woohoo! So let this be lesson to anyone else. If you fail to declare, its a long 6-7 years before your record is wiped and your eligible for Nexus. Initially booked in Blaine for December 2012 but the second time I tried to reschedule, an opening in October 2012 came up and I took it. In case an opening came up in another location that doesn't have an iris scanner, do I have to make an appointment for that or do they accept drop ins? Also, if it is drop in, how long roughly should I allow myself before a flight? |
Please delete.

I was reading the much earlier threads on this forum and saw a few that mentioned that the interview must occur within 90 days once the conditional approval is given. You have 30 days to book, and 90 days to appear for an interview. Is this still applicable? I got approval last week, and the first interview at YYZ is not until January....clearly more than 90 days!

They accept drop-ins as soon as you finish your initial interview with the US/Canada border agencies.
E.G., Whirlpool on the US side doesn't have the iris scanner, so we simply drove over the Rainbow Bridge and then entered the little house (shack?) on the Canadian side, had our irises scanned, and off we went.

I have a question guys. My passport expired and I renewed it in Hong Kong. I am flying to LAX directly and do not know when I'll be back in Canada. I cannot even update my information online on the GOES system because the issuing country is not Canada, like my last passport.
My question is if I update my info at the GE office at LAX when I arrive, do I still need to go to the NEXUS office next time I go back to Canada? Can I still use the nexus lanes at the airport with the new passport but haven't been to the enrollment center to update info yet? I recall that I don't need my passport to use the nexus lanes, just my eyes. I am not sure how this works out with a new passport. Thanks in advance |

While we're talking about renewals...
I stopped by the YUL Nexus office with my new passport. I handed over my Nexus card and new passport to a CBSA agent who disappears with them. I see the agent walk across the office at some point, and then a few minutes later, a CBP agent comes looking for me. "Do you have your driver's license, sir? It's also expired." My driver's license expired in January 2009 and I presented my new one at that time in the very same Nexus office. IIRC it was the CBSA "receptionist" who took it and entered the data. I've since crossed the border many dozens of times without any problems whatsoever. Has this every happened to anyone? How do you ensure both Canadian and US officials are aware of updated documents? Thanks |
Happened to see this article on the weekend, so thought would post it in case there are any FT boaters out there with Nexus cards.
Looks like they came down hard on the US boaters, and only relented when pressured. http://www.buffalonews.com/apps/pbcs...120929559/1003 |
Not sure if this is the right place for this question, so mods please move to appropriate forum if not.
I am a Nexus card holder, Canadian citizen residing in the US with a green card. Up until now, I've always flown AC on overseas flights usually via YYZ, so only used Nexus when crossing the US/Canadian border and entering YYZ or YVR from an international destination. This has always worked well and without a hitch. Later this week, I've got a trip to Japan via IAH on UA. My question is, on the return from NRT to IAH, can I use the Global Entry kiosk as a Canadian citizen and US permanent resident (green card holder)? According to the info in my GOES account, I assume I can, but I've never tried. Anyone else have experience with this, and how it works? |
My appointment is coming up in a couple of weeks. Rather than put the miles on my car, I was going to rent a cheap car for the 350-mile (each way) drive (plus some more, since I'll be touring around a bit in the Toronto area after my appointment).
But then it occurred to me that I had seen reference that the NEXUS folks wanted to see my car so it could be registered to the program. Is this necessary, or is a rental car OK to get me there? |
They didn't want to see my car when I went to my interview in Fort Erie. I left it at home in Charlotte, NC and flew to Buffalo as I had business in the area anyway. Only needed to give them the make/model/year, info about who it was financed through etc., and the license plate number. That was enough for them!

For reference they did NOT ask me about my car at all. They did ask for my license as proof of residency. |
