It was probably my post. Whirlpool bridge, but note that if the Canadian side is busy processing a train, they won't be able to do the iris scan:

FT should have a 'classic posts' thread/section. :D

The Nexus thread itself could have a "classic posts" section.

Not a DYKWIA ("Do you know who I am?") thread but a IDNNFPATTWTHI thread -- "I don't need no f'in passport according to the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative."

I truly don't understand these people. It just confirms in my mind that there are just some folks out there who just don't have a brain.

It also shows that being sure of yourself can go a long ways towards getting your way- even when you're dead wrong. ;)

Stupid question (and I'm pretty sure the answer is no): Can I (as a dual Canada/US citizen, but US resident and passport holder) use NEXUS when landing in Canada from a third-party country? Believe it or not, I can't find any explicit statement yay or nay regarding Air Mode in the Member Guide or on the CBSA or CBP sites.

I did it from the UK last month. Seemed to work fine. I'm Canadian / Australian though, so not quite the same.

You can use NEXUS arriving in Canada from anywhere you arrive in Canada from.

The machine doesn't know or care, neither do the guys when you leave and give them your form and NEXUS slip.

I use it to arrive from El Salvador and Hong Kong all the time.

Awesome, so it works just like entering the US from anywhere with GE. Thanks for the quick responses. ^

I got NEXUS not because I have anything to hide, nor mind talking to people, but because the agents hate our freedoms so much. They are trained to do so. Honestly, not even the Taliban would get so worked up about our movements or belongings. Think about that for a sec. E.g. OMG a granola bar in luggage! Take away his freedom for a few hours. Make him pay. Sheesh.

Ah yes, it was your post! I kind of flipped through this long thread at random and somehow managed to stumble upon the page that had your post. I lucked out :D

Maybe I can check the train schedule and try to get there before it? Or is there some way I can ensure that they'll accept me to do the iris scan? Living in Ajax, I'm willing to drive to NY to do a day trip and shop in Buffalo and get the NEXUS card at the same time, but I don't want to keep driving down hoping they'll take me.

Thanks for your help!

Thought about it.

You clearly have an over-active imagination.

Moving on.

I need to get an iris scan done for my Nexus. Tuesday I arrive in YYC around 9am on WJA - so D gates. Connecting to a WJA domestic flight leaving 1030am. Is this enough time to zip down to the Nexus office? If so directions to expedite it over to the office would be appreciated. Obviously I will need to go through security again etc.

Thank you.

Can any YYC locals help me with this? Is it possible in that timeframe?

IIRC, they mentioned the train being a daily event. If that's the case, it should be easy to schedule around - the Canadian side was otherwise quiet, and very accommodating. Best bet might be to call the Whirlpool Bridge office and explain your goals (YMMV - they did give me some incorrect info over the phone, but as I was well-organized when I showed up, I found them pleasant enough to deal with).

Worst case, you could call Pearson after you get the NEXUS card - I think they do iris scans without appointments.

That should be lots of time. You'll exit downstairs, go up to departures and the Nexus office is across from the entrance to US customs (B/C gates). Then back to D gates and you're golden.

Yes - a number of posters have noted you can do the iris scan at Pearson without an appointment; you might wait 10 or 20 minutes based on the last time I stopped in there without an appointment to update some information a couple years ago.
