See my post upthread. I was in the same stinky boat. I had a road trip to Fort Erie all planned and ready to go (ick) but then there were last-minute cancellations at Pearson. If you're willing to log into GOES a few times a day and reschedule your Fort Erie appointment, you can keep checking for availability at Pearson. You just never know...

Good luck.

Stupid question and verification...

When do I use the Nexus TDC Online Form?

Everytime I use Nexus entry into Canada via Air? (not concerned about land right now...) regardless if I buy anything or not?

Just wanted to verify, swear the CBSA and CBP told me this, but using it the first time next week gaining entry and want to have my ducks in a row :)

By Air, you only need to use the TDC online form if you are declaring over your limit - they will then automatically charge the tax and duties to your credit card. That is more convenient than having to go to the cashier etc.

If you are within your limit, you just fill out the regular Customs declaration card and you're good.

My question pertains to Air Entry only..
I have NEXUS and my husband has NEXUS.
Should we be filling out individual custom cards, or still just do one for both of us? We've had mixed reactions to this.

I know you seem to know a lot, and post very useful info. bit I am very suspect about the ability to use a passport that has been clipped at the bottom for travel. Besides, don't they also stamp a large "canceled" in your passport if you go in to renew when they clip it. Not 100% sure, but IIRC, they did this to mine when I renewed a couple of years ago.

They don't stamp or emboss "cancelled" any more. As for the legality, the US requires Canadians to show a passport but it does not have to be a valid passport, just a recent one that shows for full government ID purposes. If you have your NEXUS card and the passport under which it is registered, plus the receipt for your soon to be issued passport, you should be legal. Since the US also permits entry by Canadian with an enhanced drivers license, and no passport, there should be no issue with your interim status.

Good luck.

Just check every 5-10 minutes during business hours. There are always cancellations.

The NEXUS Information Thread

Nexus failure on my part. Went to use nexus for yyz pre clearance and it wouldn't capture my eyes. Kept timing out weird. No instructions either. Pushed start like it said, then tried to line up my eyes in the mirror. Blah

Stepped back and used global entry Licketty split and I was on my way.

First time newbie (rolling eyes )

They did do something, actually. They announced that renewals with no material change since the previous application will soon not require an interview.

My NEXUS expries today.
I submitted my application on April 14 and got an e-mail today saying I'm conditionally approved subject to interview. Got to schedule my appointment and the next available date at YYZ is August 20th (more than 2 1/2 months from now). ....

I'll be transiting through YVR in a couple of weeks, so checked there. Next availability mid-July.

So I'm off to Fort Erie in two weeks to get it done there.

You can travel if you want to, but I have been using an expired Nexus for three weeks now. Given the renewal delays, any renewal that is still on process can continue to use. I talked to the office before it expired with a similar concern to yours and was told the little secret.

Thanks for the info, but you just busted my bubble :(

I applied April 16 and was hoping for a Champlain NY appointment before the end of July.

The hours have also extended hours at YYZ in the last couple of years. They used to be M-F only until 6, I think. Now I believe they are open till 8 on weekdays. They also opened on Sat beginning a couple of years ago or so, and in March, when I was looking too book my renewal interview, was pleasantly surprised the office was open on Sunday until 6. Not sure when that started - but I think it's fairly new and I was pleasantly surprised to see that.

No. I was told that I had to complete the NEXUS interview or cancel my application altogether (and reapply for GE separately).

Bite the bullet, do the interview at any location (even one without the iris scanner) and enjoy GE. Pickup the iris scan the next time you have a layover in a Canadian airport (I did mine during a 3 hour layover at YUL).

Sorry if I wan't clear, I ment can I get GE before I get the scan, which it sounds like the answer is "yes". That will make my life much easier, thanks. ^

It seems very dynamic. Right now Champlain has availability this coming Wed 6 June.

Bad news for me is "The enrollment center Montreal Enrollment Center you selected does not have any available appointments." Hopefully Montreal is just as dynamic, but it seems tough if you can only go on a weekend.
