Hey guys. My gf recently updated her drivers licence at the local DMV. I went on the GOES website to update it but all I can seem to update is her passport. Am I doing this wrong or does she have to go to customs and get them to update it?

Thanks!

She must drop into any centre to have the DL photocopied for the change. Even passports have to be presented for photocopying and confirming any change made online. No appointment is necessary and it takes just a few minutes. However, she can also call the centre to advise the new DL number but must still do a physical visit.

Agree. That's the stupidest statement yet...one doesn't need any ID if traveling by car other than your DL if you're the driver. However, a provincial health card is the next most important ID that one should always carry wherever your travels take you. But within Canada no passport is ever needed! Just one piece of government issued photo ID if flying.

Do you need to carry your NEXUS card to use GE?

No. Period. End of question.

No, but if you are preclearing at a Canadian airport and the GE kiosks are down, and you don't have your NEXUS card with you, you're going to have to use the regular lines.

Makes sense. I carry my NEXUS card with me all the time, and my passport only while I travel, so I'd never be in that situation. But Reid mentioned the CBP office asked for both passport and NEXUS after using GE, which seemed strange, because you can get GE without NEXUS.

Holy crap,

So I was conditionally approved a couple days ago (about a 3 week process)
And I'm trying to book an intereview in Calgary and the first one isn't available until July 25th!?

Wow, that's insane.

I don't even know if I will be on vacation by that point or not.

Well (and this will not reassure you) I got pre-approved back in April and finally got my interview last Jan 4! YOW was always booked 3 months in advanced and always when my appointment would come up, I'd be gone on a trip...

Keep checking regularly GOES for cancellation. Someone will cancel and if you are lucky enough, you can snatch the spot. I found that a 9 months wait for a 10 minutes quick meeting is quite a let down. But at least, I will have my Nexus card when I land in YOW in two days from Europe!

Are there no other centers within driving distance? I had a similar problem at Pearson so I booked a interview at Niagara Falls instead. Dont know if you have the same options near Calgary

Six months...wow. And I thought the four months I had to wait in Vancouver was bad. Have you tried Edmonton? Or if you can do without the iris scan you might try Sweetgrass.

In Vancouver the current wait time is about 7 months. I keep checking to reschedule for a closer date.

If you use a non-airport location like that, you can (or at least could) drop into any airport facility without appointment to add the iris scan. I did that at YUL, after getting an easy interview at Champlain NY.

Couldn't you use the crew line if you have GE but no Nexus card? Though not sure what would happen if one didn't have a sticker on their passport - wonder if the agents can see that you are GE on the screen when they scan your passport.
