BTDT, last year for our 6 week old. You just fill it out as best you can.

The driver's license section isn't a requirement; you'll use her birth certificate and passport as the ID. Previous travel is blank. Employment is 'child' or 'student'. No previous addresses. Etc... They've seen countless infant applications, so they know much of it doesn't apply.

Thank You

Hi Guys,

Some people in another forum was saying that they got their files pre approved on week end also. A guy got his confirmation email on sunday.
Does that mean it's also being reviewed on week end and not only week days ? Someone had a pre approval on week end ?

Thanks.

New field on passenger information on my flight pass booking; just below Redress Number there is a new field for "Known traveller number." Hitting the question mark, shows, "Details to Come."

Maybe starting to set up for a Canada-to-US version of PRE, which would be sweet?!!!!

Is this NEXUS-redux for Westjetters or is it more useful than the GE / NEXUS we know and love?

I think these folks still have to deal with a border-human at a kiosk, it will just expedite some of the paperwork. So as long as a CBSA human is involved, no, it's not better than Nexus/GE.

They've had that at YVR since just before the 2010 Olympics. Allows any Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident to use a kiosk to process their customs declaration form, and will spit out a receipt that is a copy of the declaration, along with a number (random or based on the answers on the form) for a secondary inspection.

You go to a CBSA officer with this receipt, before picking up your checked luggage, for verification.

Separate from Nexus, which is a trusted traveller program for expedited border clearance for both USA & Canada.

Last two times through this have been faster than Nexus.

It seems that a Canadian passport or PR card are required to use this. My kids are Canadian , born in Canada , but hold US passports , no PR cards. Would they be eligible ??

Also , to those asking about applying for Nexus for small kids. I just got Nexus for my 3 little kids , 9 , 5 , 2. Just fill out the application with as much info as you can. You will be fine.

And to those asking me privately for updates: Sunday , Feb.3 - I took my 3 kids for their nexus interviews , only 2 got e mails right away notifying me of account status changes. I called YYZ , and they called me back 3 days later saying my 3rd child was approved and they dont know why approval was not immediate like the others.

What is Ready Lane?

I understand this is not a surprise... but...

Particularly, there seems to be growing number of non-nexus drivers using the nexus lane and then cutting into the regular line, and the blocking the nexus lane (because drivers dont let them in -> road rage/honk battle/swearing ensues) causing an even larger traffic back further. If I had video evidence of these people including their license plates, could they be penalized somehow?

Also what if non-nexus drivers actually went into the nexus lane booth. What do officers tell them? It would seems impossible for them reverse and line up again so I assume they HAVE to let them through. What are the details on their punishment for this?

Yup - I've used this when the NEXUS kiosks have more than 2-3 people in line and these kiosks are not busy.

I have a neighbour who did this once coming back from Bellingham (crossing at Peach Arch). She was in a mini-van with 4 other woman and they were returning from a day trip of shopping. Some of the people told the driver (not my neighbour) not to use the Nexus lane but she ignored them (none of them were Nexus holders). When they got to the booth, the driver was severely chastised and sent to secondary where they ALL had to declare their purchases and were required to pay duty and HST. The vehicle was also fully searched. In all, they were detained over an hour. Much longer than if they had used the regular lane where possibly they would have been waived through. In the end it cost them more in time and money by inappropriately using the Nexus lane.

interesting, thnx for the anecdote. i wonder what would happen if they didnt buy anything... (eg. leisure trip) just being chastised doesnt seem harsh enough.

Does this mean that nexus machines on the american side at YYZ have been phased out for good and only GE kiosk are there ?
