There is no GE for entering Canada, sorry if I confused you :p

It's a US program, and can only be used for entering the US.

This could easily be answered somewhere in this huge thread, but I thought I would just point out there was a GE lane/machines in Auckland for entering NZ.

The American guy in front of me was pleasantly surprised.

If your kids are dual, then they would technically need to enter Canada on a Canadian passport, and enter the US on a US passport. With the Canadian passport, they should be good to go.

interesting, thnx for the anecdote. i wonder what would happen if they didnt buy anything... (eg. leisure trip) just being chastised doesnt seem harsh enough.

I think a full search and the extra hour of detainment is harsh enough to stop them from ever doing it again.

I'm sure a prosecutor could make a charge like "attempted illegal entry" stick, but is that worth the effort in a case like this? If the people are never going to do it again, and no harm came to anyone, then I'm fine with how it was handled.

Just popping in to thank all those who posted about the bug affecting pre-entering trusted traveller numbers mucking with OLCI. I had entered mine on my flight pass, so I was able to change my seat (to row 12 at T-24h), but not proceed to BP. I was in class (and teaching) so didn't do it right away, but after class, I logged in and removed the NEXUS number, saved, and reopened OLCI. Not only would it now go forward past the previous snag, but it still remembered my NEXUS number, and all I had to do was confirm it. My first thought was, oh SSSS. But I'm all BPd and ready to go!

As far as I can tell, they would NOT be eligible. It seems clear they need a Canadian passport to use it. Hardly seems worth buying photos and passports for 3 kids every 5 years to be able to use this service.

Nexus Card

Had my interview in YUL last Tuesday. Very professional and polite agents for both interviews. US agent said I was approvedfgor GE even though I had not requested it.
Received ny Nexus card on Yuesday and activated it immediately, Intersting that you do not have to enter your account details - including password to activate.
Just curious if I now have GE or is there another card coming for that.
Thanks in advance.

Your NEXUS card automatically includes GE privileges. You will not get a 2nd card.

To use GE kiosk you don't need a GE card or NEXUS card. You just need a machine readable passport and your 10 fingers and you are all set.

Actually, you only need 4 of your fingers :-D

Nexus Q

If you cross at a border facility that has no nexus or GE does it help any to mention to the officer that you are a Trusted Traveller?

Not in my experience. At the NNY/ON/QC crossings, I get the same questions using either a passport or NEXUS.

When I flew in to BTV, which obviously has neither, I slid my passport upside down to the officer so that he'd notice the "CBP" sticker. Didn't seem to make a difference.
