She said typically 2 weeks up to 8 weeks of wait time is required for this step. She also warned that full approval is not given until the fingerprint check comes back clean.

This explains why I still haven't received my full approval 5 days after the interview. It would appear that either this is a new step in the process or that there is something special about me (Canadian citizen living in the US with H-1B) that would call for additional scrutiny.

This is from someone recently who seems to be in the same boat. I'm wondering if they're making changes. Curious to know if anyone is getting instant approvals these days.

I am confused. I was told by the US agent (in April) as I was putting my fingerprints on the scanner for the fingerprints, that the review of them is almost instantaneous. After a few moments on the scanner, I was told that my fingerprints passed.

As was the case for me last July. I only thought it was worth bringing up this quote because there are at least three people very recently that haven't gotten instant approvals. Very strange.

My daughter got instant approval in June this year.

The approval should have been virtually immediate and evident on your acount on the GOES web site upon completion of the 2 interviews. One also gets an immediate confirmatory email about the successful interview.

I got the approval email 15 minutes after the approval interview.

My boarding pass for tonight, my first flight since approval on August 27, has the tsa pre check text on it. (Unfortunately SEA pre check isn't open for red eyes )

Which airline are you going on (and the flight was supposed to go from where to where) - to get the TSA precheck option on your boarding pass- which you can not use because it is a red-eye flight.

Did you put your nexus (frequent traveler number) on the reservation, or on the on-line or check-in counter check-in, to get the pre-check feature displayed on your boarding pass?

My approval took about 22 hours in Detroit. I did not receive an email confirmation.

yes I added my nexus member id and the BP has pretsa on it. What I was referring to is that pre tsa security line hasn't appeared to be open when I have boarded in the past. Well see. Arriving at SeaTac for JFK now ....

When will Canada form agreements with other countries re: Nexus passengers?

See this link re: USA global entry for UK citizens: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...y-program.html

Many countries, including, but no limited to, allow US citizens with GE to go to special lanes; I believe these countries include Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Netherlands etc.

I wonder when Canada will have bilateral agreements with other countries besides USA, which will allow nexus cardholders (who are least Canadian citizens) to go through special lanes when entering (or exiting) the country.

Love my nexus card... just did a bunch of international flying... YVR to ORD and used a nexus kiosk to breeze though US Customs, then from DOH to ORD and used the global entry kiosk to fly though US Customs, arrived from ORD to YYC and used it again at the nexus kiosk and it was even faster...didn't even have to see a customs guy... just hand the receipt & deceleration card on the way out with your luggage.

Wasn't sure if as a Canadian if in ORD the Global entry kiosk would work for me as for some reason it didn't scan my passport (never used a global kiosk before) but when I clicked on problems reading documents I was able to pull myself up via name.

Also saved a bunch of time at security lines using the TSA Pre & Nexus only lines.

My take on these agreements is that most (all?) include the need for a biometric passport. Given how late Canada is in the game on this, I can see why we do not have any of these agreements.

Once ours roll out more fully, we may see some of this...

Interesting data point...I thought it'd be at least another month or so...

Initial Application: August 1st
Conditional Approval: September 3rd

I'm not seeing any available timeslots for YYZ, Fort Erie, or Niagara Falls. It just says "No available time slot, please select another enrollment center". Is this normal? Shouldn't it just go to the next day (even if 2014) that's available?

It's normal. Keep checking several times a day and you will find a spot soon enough when someone cancels.

They tend to open blocks at the GTA area in chunks. It doesn't seem to be a rolling window. You do need to have an appointment booked before 30 days passes (or whatever the notice says - forgive me not going to check the wiki) so just grab one that you could theoretically tolerate going to, and diligently watch for cancellations and new YYZ&etc. windows. You can reschedule to a later date once you have an appointment booked, as well as to a different centre.
