seegs, are you using the online (GOES) application? You ARE allowed to apply for Nexus even though you're living elsewhere. I just checked and the paper application allows you to enter any country, so it could just be that you'll have to fill out a paper version. In any case, you'll have to send in your documents, so paper might be the best route.
Further, the paper version doesn't ask you for a contact person. They ask for one because it's part of their background check.

If I send in the paper application am I notified by email about approval? Do I have to telephone in to a centre for an interview or can I do this through GOES?

I would walk in with the other passports right in my hand to ensure they know you intend to correct the error, and so you don't forget to mention it. They likely do already know. They did ask me if I ever had any other passports and I said, well, the ones that expired before this one, but never from other countries. They also asked me if I had lived in the USA, which is an odd question unless they already knew that I had. I have nothing to hide, but it was outside the past-address date range and there were no other relevant questions, so I had not mentioned on the application.

Thanks, exactly what I was planning to do as I figured if I'm not meant to have it, then I'm not meant to have it. :)

Don't worry too much. They would not send you "conditional approval" if they were just messing with you. They have determined you are theoretically okay with them. Just be forthcoming with the corrections and don't lie about anything they ask you because they already know the answer! :-)

Welcome to FT.

And it appears that they are all on one card together!

Hey folks,

How hard is it to get an interview for nexus? Work takes me down to Edmonton on an fairly-short-notice trip occasionally. If I could get an interview on a few days notice I'd get nexus in a heartbeat, but I can't justify flying all the way down there just for the interview.

Any thoughts?

It absolutely does happen that there are last minute cancellations. Keep watching for them, and have your calendar open when you login to GOES because the spot will be gone before you get the calendar open in the other window.
Just book any appointment anywhere when you get your conditional approval and if you don't get an Edmonton date you can deal with when you sign in, just reschedule to a later date and keep looking for Edmonton cancellations. I don't know if I have read anyone here indicating how long you can keep postponing the interview before they decide you didn't really want it.
What IS important is to book AN appointment SOMEWHERE within the required time window after the conditional approval (I think it's 30 days, but do what it says on the letter.)
Edited to add, it could be even more advantageous if you could grab the best Edmonton date you can get, and then ADD a business trip around that date. Your choice of cancellation might be "11:40 am Wednesday the X day of Y month take it or leave it". If you can make a business trip around NEXUS rather than the other way around, you have a much better shot. Almost everyone on the thread would likely say they wish they had applied sooner. (I guess it's also fair to say those who think it's rubbish aren't hanging around in the thread, though.)

I interviewed in Detroit on August 30 and was approved the next day, but still have not received my NEXUS card. Has anybody else had receiving their card take so long?

The agents told me when I interviewed that I would get it in 7-10 days. I actually got it in 5. Does your GOES account say "Approved"?

I find a lot of cancellations in the morning just before people hit the 24 hour mark for the next day, but time slots appear at all times

Every time you get a work assignment in Edmonton just keep checking every morning until the day before you leave

Had a friend come to town from LAX for a week during Christmas, one month notice - we ended up getting her a slot on Christmas eve about ten days before she arrived

My account does say approved and has since August 31. Last Monday was Labor Day, so that may delay it a day. Just hoping that I receive the card soon.

Could be the mail. Ours came from VT and were about 5 days each. I presume it leaves USPS hands early in the process and Canada Post handles. But if you are in CLE, it's USPS all the way. Who knows what's up with them.

There was a federal holiday in the middle there and a number of weekend days. I wouldn't quite worry yet. It's only been 5 business days.

A few weeks ago, I posted about not having received my final approval several days after my interview. I've now received my card, here's the timeline:

5/5/2013 : applied
6/19/2013 : conditional approval
8/12/2013 : interview (Montreal Trudeau)
8/15/2013 : not approved yet - first call to enrollment center - "some delay is normal"
8/17/2013 : still not approved - second call - "a delay of 2-8 weeks is normal if the fingerprints don't come back clear immediately"
9/3/2013 11:00 : still not approved - third call
9/3/2013 18:00 : approval email
9/12/2013 : card received

During my third call, the agent put me on hold and spoke with the US officer. She said that when fingerprints aren't immediately approved, a manual intervention is required by a US CBP supervisor in the system in order to allow the application to progress. I assume my call had the effect of causing this manual intervention to happen since it seems more than a coincidence that I got my approval shortly after my call.

I just received my NEXUS card yesterday. Interviewed August 30, Approved August 31, Received my card September 12. Took about 2 weeks but there was a holiday in the time as well as 2 weekends.

This is evolving from a Nexus information thread into a collection of timing reports. Could we consider a separate thread for the timing reports and let this thread focus on more general issues? The fact that is in the Aeroplan forum is even more confusing.
