Any insight if potential sequestration cuts will have an impact on already scheduled interviews?
That said, logically they would have to notify those who are already scheduled then probably stop accepting new schedules for a bit. |
In other news, I just noticed that there are more than 100,000 NEXUS members now.
http://www.peacebridge.com/index.php...ses&Itemid=695 December 7, 2012 BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON – Today the NEXUS Niagara campaign team – consisting of the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority (PBA), Niagara Falls Bridge Commission (NFBC), Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Southern Ontario Region, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) – announced that over 100,000 trusted travelers have been issued NEXUS cards in the Buffalo Niagara Region. "This is truly a landmark day for the NEXUS program in Western New York and Southern Ontario," said PBA General Manager Ron Rienas. "The popularity of this program is extremely evident, as are the very real benefits of expedited border crossings through trusted travel membership." The program member who became the official 100,000th regional card holder was local youth hockey player Seth Hollett of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Seth Hollett and his family applied for the program through an ongoing NEXUS Niagara outreach blitz targeting area youth hockey leagues. In honor of this milestone, Seth Hollett was presented with a signed certificate and a National Hockey League sweater by Buffalo Sabres mascot Sabretooth and legendary announcer Rick Jeanneret. The Buffalo Sabres have been an official NEXUS Niagara campaign "ambassador" since early-2012. |
I applied through GOES in late October 2012, got conditional approval about three weeks afterwards and managed to score an interview at the Blaine border crossing for this sunday (originally had my interview scheduled for march 30th but managed to move it up after checking for any cancellations).
as far as the interview, what should I expect as far as questions? will they bombard me with questions? I'm kind of nervous, it would suck if I "failed" the interview, not sure if there's such thing. |
Nothing at all to be nervous about. The questions are all quite basic - why do you intend to travel to US, where do you work and so forth. It's really not a big deal.

Just a guess on my part, but it sounds like all US Govt spending will have wind down a bit which includes CBP. So to the extent that CBP folks will be "laid off" or at least scheduled to not come in to work for a while, I would imagine that interviews will be invariably affected.

moreover, i keep reading about the iris scan, but that is done at certain locations. It seems like the Blaine crossing does not offer the iris scan...what happens if i don't get the iris scan? I would still be able to use GE when coming in through a US or Canadian pre-cleared airport, right?
I'm a US citizen btw and I live in the seattle area. |

Actually it's steadily inching towards a million members. The document you refer to covers only the Ft. Erie enrollment area.

In any event -- I've got an inter-US flight tomorrow - US city to US city. Glad to note that my boarding pass shows that my Nexus status is giving me TSA-Pre. (Lots on that over in the United forum).
I've got a lot of inter-US flights coming up, and its nice to know that on some (or many) occasions my Nexus continues to help out. Maybe a useful data reference for others. It is just so wonderful. From curbside to the United lounge was 1 minute 47 seconds. (I timed it). Key point -- get your "Known Traveller" ID into your United, American, USAir etc accounts.... ---- |
YYZ appointments
It seems like they just opened up the whole March for appointments at Pearson airport.
